Tyson Fury will still be boxing ... and probably will still be fighting for and winning belts here and there ... 10 years from now. If you haven't figured that out yet then you haven't been following boxing very long.

    He's a lifer.

You can talk about Fury "cashing out" around the year 2030.

I dont doubt that Fury may still be fighting at 35.

We are referring to big money fights here. Once Wilder knocks him out cold, he has one more big money fight after that. At that point he has "cashed out", and if he wants to continue fighting he will fighting for peanuts.

This is what I was referring to. His inability to keep himself together mentally and physically inevitably means his time at the top, getting the big cheques is limited. Once you become a big sloppy mess, or a cartoon character your ability to earn big money goes.

What a silly question, one guy is coming off a two year lay off with drugs and mental problems. The other just beat his best opponent and the most feared man in the HW division, how could he be selling his belt?

I doubt either fighter is cashing out, both have too much self belief to think they could lose. You have to have the mentality to be a champion in most cases.

A better question is which of their promoters his cashing out?

So that Hearn can't make any money from them.

Lol, the only heavyweight scared of Deontay is his own shadow. Being real without any bias, Wilder went life and death with an old contender, past his best at the end of his run with medical problems. His first real competitor at the top level. Love Ortiz, best technical fighter in the division, tricky Southpaw, but old, well past his best, and not in the best physical health. Wilder (or his handlers) dont want any piece of the hungry prime contenders. Breazeale, Whyte, Miller, Parker.. they are lining up around the block for a crack, and even better contenders are about 12 months away. I actually like the Wilder vs Fury fight not because either are that great, but because both are still at contender level and at such vunerable stages of their careers. Wilder with nowhere else to hide, Fury uncertain if hes still got it. One of these guys has decided its time to cash in for a payday. Maybe its both?

Because Wilder won’t be interested in a well prepared Fury with 5 or 6 comeback fights under his belt.

Wilder is desperate to improve his resume but this version of Fury doesn’t help him at all, it’d be like Larry Holmes claiming he beat Ali in his prime

I think recent moves in the US market have encouraged Showtime to be aggressive and they're the driving force behind this. Maybe they ran the numbers on an AJ Wilder fight and figured that funding this one now would be a win win, both immediately and in building Wilder for future US PPV. So they've come up with more money up front than either fighter would've expected, sufficient for Fury to junk his schedule and risk going in half cooked.

So if either of them, clearly Fury, but market forces are more significant in this fight happening now.

    Is this a trick question?

Fury may not think he's cashing out ... but yeah, he is.

    This.

Wilder's Bum-0-meter went crazy when Fury first appeared on TV, and he's rushed to fight him before he shakes off the flab and the rust.

I think the only person cashing out is FW.

Its my opinion FW isn't sure how long Fury will be around in boxing, how long Fury will hold it all together so he has made the Wilder fight now because he could end up watching a big payday (For FW and a FW fighter), a big fight, a high profile fight go down the drain.

Fury is so unpredictable and volatile that he could have a bad day and "retire" again, he is that sort of character.

Also it throws a spanner in Hearns plans, AJ wanting to get his hands on all the belts and the fact DAZN is just starting out.

FW gave it the bigg'un and then had to surrender and make a deal with Hearn for the BJS Vs Andrade fight. It wasn't a good look after all his bluster.

Boxnation looks dead on its feet to me so FW needed a "Win" and this is his "Win", it's a gamble but considering Furys unpredictable nature it's a gamble FW believe it's worth taking because if you look at his other fighters he doesn't exactly throw them in the deep end.

This is just a silly thread if deontay wasn’t fighting fury you would be calling his opponent a bum and probably say he wouldn’t fight someone like Fury. Anyway if he wins he has another top 10 guy on his resume and a big ppv under his belt, I’m just happy to see the top guys mixing it up. We have had AJ vs several top guys, Wilder vs 2 top names, Whyte vs 2 top 10 names, Pulev vs Fury, etc it’s a good time for the HW division. Not necessarily coz there are guys with lots of skills but because they are all competitive with each other and the fight a are being made.

I don't call any fighters 'bums', that's just plain disrespectful to both fighters and myself. Joshua, Whyte, Miller, Parker, Povetkin, possibly even Breazeale in the not too distant future are either with Matchroom or with them through association. Thus the champion and all the top contenders in the division, Wilder and Fury are never going to fight because they are too busy crying that they aren't worth as much. Let's be real, there's one champion, Joshua. Wilder vs Fury is 2 contenders fighting each other. In the space of two weeks, I've gone from listening to Wilder fans screaming non-stop that Wilder vs Joshua is the fight the whole world wants to see, to now apparently Joshua is irrelevant and Wilder vs Fury is the fight the whole world wants to see. I'm going to let you in on a little secret. No one wants to see the 2 clowns with considerable weaknesses avoiding everyone claiming to be champ, everyone wants to see Dillian Whyte or one of the top contenders knock their blocks off.
