Do you know what the criteria for scoring a pro fight is? If not then this conversation is pointless at this point.

Maravilla was obviously slicker and more difficult to hit flush, with a good deal more hand speed and probably slightly greater accuracy (though Golovkin is fairly precise), while GGG has a much better chin and is better on the front-foot and has more power (though Martínez's was quite good). Stamina is probably a wash, both in the A- or at worst B+ range, as Martínez had that base of cycling & soccer from his youth before taking up boxing late while Golovkin has been doing three minute rounds practically since he was in diapers; both are known to have, to some degree, faded late in some of their contests but it never cost them a fight or anything. Movement is also even, IMO, with Maravilla gliding effortlessly around the ring, melting into crouches, and uncoiling like a serpent to counterattack with surprising fluidity - while Golovkin is the modern day master of the Dempsey shift and is himself spends 99% of his time in the ring as its general.

    This is a tough one.

(note: I haven't even touched on résumés, which is another whole debate that ultimately would factor into who's greater)

Jacobs gets dismantled badly by Martinez , he wouldn't have came within an inch of victory like he did with Golovkin.

How would Canelo's terrible conditioning cope against Sergio's endless workrate? Sergio gets a flat footed , gassed out Canelo of there in the late rounds.

Sergio Martinez - Lineal MW Champ 2010/14 - 4 years.

GGG - lineal Champ = Zero years

Lineal Champs Sergio beat= one... Lineal Champs GGG beat= Zero.

Golovkins resume is thin. On two separate occasions , two different governing bodies didn't sanction his fights because the opponents were so poor.

GGGs resume is more comparable to an Arthur Abraham. Arthur has 10 defenses of a real MW title whereas Golovkin has only 7.

Williams got blitzed in the rematch. Almost always the better fighter will overturn a disputed result in the rematch.

Will GGG get rid of Canelo like Sergio got rid of Williams in September?

If Golovkin is a real ATG he will . If he's not he wont. :sisi1:sisi3:

Golovkin ducks his mandatory challengers so that makes him a worse ducker than Martinez. .

GGG, hands down. If not for the Paul Williams KO we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

It was such a crack up, too, when Manny was saying earlier that Williams is the tougher fighter having come up under more difficult surroundings. Then crack. lol. So much for that theory.

So you think the fans and media would prefere to see Golovkin vs Derevyanchenko instead of the Canelo rematch :duh

No he's not. Except Jacobs nobody on Golovkins resume could be argued to be on par with Paul Williams.
