Don't know if it's been done, but how about GGG v Minter, Hamsho, Sibson, Duran and the rest of Hagler's title challengers ?
I feel GGG deals with all of them easily, no disrespect to Duran, but GGG is no Barkley and yes Duran was great at light middle when dismantled Moore.
I haven't see much of the guys you listed minus their fights with Hagler, so if anyone wants to say otherwise I'll happily stand corrected, but I think Mugabi and Hearns pose the biggest threats, although Hagler was sliding by that stage of his career. Duran also brings an interesting stylistic match up to the table, but I feel Duran was to far gone by this point. Whatever the level of GGG's defences since he became a title holder, you can't argue against how consistency he's performed and he's always come in tip top shape. No doubt Hagler's resume of title defences far outweighs GGGs as it stands.
I think a few of Hagler opponents can beat GGG. Hearns I think would. Hamsho is a tough guy, and he might cut easily but he is tough. Mugabi would have a punchers chance, especially that Mugabi who was undefeated. Duran vs. GGG? Duran's style could give Golovkin trouble. Duran was a hard enough hitter at middleweight more than anyone gives him credit for, I think he could take Golovkin into a later rounds and start landing the right and maybe get a stoppage. I am not totally convinced GGG is the goods. I think Marvin Hagler beats GGG rather easily. Out jabs him with his 75 inch reach and switches back and forth and punches him into the ground in rounds 7 or 8.
I'm pretty confident that Golovkin would deal with all of Hagler's opponents and beat them, with the possible standout exceptions of Hearns and Leonard. On the right strategy they may be able to outbox him, although I don't know how well Hearns' chin holds up. Hagler himself I favour over Golovkin, but not by a great deal and I think it would be Marvellous' toughest fight.
too early to call, let GOlovkin reach the end of career first and add some elite wins like Hagler has. As it stands we cannot argue he can beat elites like hagler seemed to do before brushing his teeth every morning. I cannot YET pick 3G over guys like Hearns, MUgabi, Minto, Vito, Duran until 3G proves that he can beat an elite. I fully believe he will prove it soon. However, you may think this is controversial but I reckon GGG would draw with Sugar Ray, matching him punch 4 punch. well tough meatheads, its my opinion.
Leonard boxed well but aimed to steal rounds. Golovkin will go to the trenches with Hagler. Whoever win or lose, they will both be full of lumps at the end of it.
i see your point, toughest in the physical sense of the word, very true. It might be that, though mugabi and hearns would disagree.
I'm a big Hears and Leonard fan. Hearns just did not have the middle weight durability to beat GGG. Leonard could, but he would need one of his good nights. GGG's footwork / aggression / cutting off the ring is better than Haglers a reason why he lost to Leonard.
I think a measured Hearns offensive, works well for him against Golovkin's Persistent Predator style. I don't think Golovkin would have an answer for Hearns the Boxer, whose ranginess and movement, combined with his speed and power, would just have been too much for the Kazakh. One can always lean towards the punchers chance and Hearns could help that along, if he goes cavalier but, in terms of skills, Hearns is just some distance ahead Golovkin.
Hearns was special. He was out boxing Leonard too, until Leonard decided to slug. GGG isn't backing down, and has a fine jab of his own, plus the chin to match. Hearns just wasn't durable at 160 pounds.
