Inspired by the best "best swarmer/pressure fighter ever" thread. Who was the best slugger/brawler of all time?

Big George Foreman, he was the epitome of what a slugger should be, he was always in predator mode, stalking his prey, and when he injured his prey , it usually didn't get a 2nd chance.

I have to go with Big George as well. At least the 70's version.

I dont think of Armstrong as a slugger...he was more like Frazier than he was George Foreman

Not "The Best", but Jose Luis Castillo was on fire for a few years until the weight struggles combined with injuries to force him out of the world class.

I've heard/read more accounts of Castillo inflicting grievous damange on opponents than any fighter in recent years. From his big comeback win against Juan Lazcano until his loss to Ricky Hatton one opponent after another had to make unpleasant post fight recoveries. Lots of missing teeth, broken bones in the face and torso, slashed eyebrows, ruptured eardrums, and lots of blood on the canvas and in the toilet later.

Even a defensive genius like Joel Casamayor was peeing blood and suffering from vertigo in the days after their fight.

Have fun trying to beat Marcos Maidana in a pure punch for punch brawl. The man was a ruffian to the core
