King Kong and Fury are quality wins in the same year.

Nope. But maybe a 'Most Improved' trophy.

...Fury is a guy that had to step away from boxing, turned to ****, and is now back and should be taking baby steps to return to proper form. Beating him means nothing.

Ortiz should not have been medically cleared to compete. Now that isn't Wilder's fault, but it still happened. That is unlucky for Wilder but it is what it is. DECENT win, Wilder's best win but it says more about Wilder than it does the quality of victory.

Usyk has done WAY more than Wilder. If Joshua beats Povetkin you could argue Joshua still did more in 2018. Depending on how Canelo v Golovkin 2 goes you could argue the winner had a better 2018. Alvarez probably has the best win in 2018 so far especially when you consider that he wasn't supposed to win in the first place.

WTF, no no no no no way.
No heavy currently should ever be close to fighter of the year, no matter how many wins they get, Joshua is outside p4p top 10, Wilder is outside top 20, Fury is wtf nobody knows, he fought two cans

You and all the other Deontay haters say a win over Fury means nothing but the professionals who set the odds speak a differrent language then you and the other Deontay haters. They might even have Fury a small favorite going into the fight against Deontay but you say it means nothing defeating the undefeated lineal HW Champion.
I like the oddsmakers respectfully disagree with you and the other Deontay haters.

Jesus ****ing christ what is wrong with you people? NO ONE is a hater just for speaking negatively about someone. I LIKE Wilder. He is funny. He is not a good boxer on a technical level. He doesn't have good wins. That is being honest. Not everyone is so blinded by their like or dislike of a person that they can't objectively discuss a topic.

Fury was inactive for almost 3 years while on an eating, drinking and drug binge.. Since returning to the ring he has yet to prove himself against a live fighter and has looked mediocre at best against his return opponents. So no ****ing way. Fury is just a name if Wilder beats him nothing more.

Its not hate, it logic. Usyk beat Breidis, Gassiev and will probably beat Bellew by the end of the year. Unified the entire cruiserweight division. Usyk hands down. If Joshua beats Povetkin, thats an olympic gold medalist, former world champion, and a world champion in the same year. Winner of Groves and Smith has had a pretty good year as well. Winner of Alvarez vs Golovkin 2 will decide the victor between 2 mega stars. All Wilder will do is what he should have been doing for years, beat 2 contenders. Hopefully he fights some prime ones next year. Give Wilder the 'Most Improved' trophy if he wins for encouragement.

King Kong and The Gypsy King tower over Breidis, Gassiev and Bellew. Is this your first year watching boxing son???

    Maybe.

It depends what the other possible candidates for FOTY end up doing.

Wilder was a joke champion for most of his reign, but his last two bouts (KOs over Stiverne and Ortiz) went a considerable length in legitimizing his claims.

I don't like the idea of "fighter of the year" status based on a two-fight year. Three or four should be needed, IMO.

However, two victories over two top ten contenders, and becoming the (arguably) lineal champ might well put Wilder in the FOTY conversation for 2018.

Yes, beating two undefeated cruiserweight world champions to unify the division, and a former cruiserweight king who has been beating on a former heavyweight world champion has got nothing on a 39 year old with a heart condition and and an obese cokehead coming off a 3 year layoff. Dillian Whyte has done more than Deontay this year, why dont you nominate him? Go to bed son, Deontay will get his most improved trophy when he steps up his game one day.
