I think Warringtons fan base is over rated personally mate , no a couple of lads who went the Elland Road fight and they say there was no way twenty thousand there ! I suppose it's the way the sports going it seems any old fight could be possibly ppv with a bit of social media hype these days!
Should we be expecting better as a fan tho. Tbf we all pay for BT sports. We should be getting better than a promoter eyeing up guys that are dead at the weight. That was borderline dangerous. Warrington rocked him with nearly everything he landed. Promoters should definitely have a duty of care. Especially fighters he's signed up regardless for how many fights. Selby's team deserve just as much critism tbf. In the run up to the fight frank was openly gloating about Selby being dead at the weight. The only reason Warrington's getting that favoritism is because he sells decently. Selbys the better fighter but because he doesn't sell its a case of being used...we all get that's the business...but don't do it with the weight. Been too many casualties for that to go on for fans not to condone it.
Was difficult to tell from the telly just how many were there but I can well believe your mate. It was certainly thin on ground well into the undercard although it seemed to fill up as it got closer to the main event.
don't agree with that Warrens his promoter he signs him offers him fights it's up to the fighters team manager / trainer who are with him day in day out to be the ones advising him .
No one wants PPV but it's reality. If you think fighters are ever going to give up money in their pocket for more people watching on TV then you're deluded. Less people will see the fight than if it was on regular BT but Warrington and Frampton will pocket more.
I cancelled my BT Sport subscription a year ago and things like this make me glad I did, the greedy, cheeky ****s require you pay a subscription fee which is fine and then tell you you have to cough up another £20 or whatever these PPV's will cost to watch at most a 12 round fight because let's face it people only order PPV's for the main event. Unless you're a fanatical fan of Champions League Football there's not much to reason to subscribe to BT Sport now, their Premier League coverage is poor compared to Sky, UFC is gone by the end of this year and I think they've even lost NBA basketball (LOL). Warrington-Frampton - I have no idea who Warrington is and Carl Frampton is a nice guy and good fighter from my neck of the woods but he has the personality of damp cloth with a fairly basic and one paced fighting style. Canelo-GGG 2 - Made my feelings about this very clear before. Wilder-Fury - This is a PPV level fight but is it worth £20 ?? After watching Fury's tactics against Wlad should make anyone question if he's worth paying to see and with a puncher like Wilder there's no doubt in my mind he'll be using the same tactics again.
Yes, we have to accept this **** and keep our mouths shut. If no one ordered these PPV's then none of these fights would happen obviously, how would these famous millionaires cope with earning less as they would if these fights were just on regular BT Sport rather than PPV ? Frank and BT Sport has clearly been watching Eddie and other promoters exploits with great interest, it has been proved that you can put just about any old shite on PPV and people will buy it, means more money for everyone except the people who don't matter - The Fans.
Is that the way its going to work on BT Sport ? E.g. ppv boxing events are NOT included as part of your BT Sport subscription so you have to pay extra like everybody else ? Ta
Yes they've started a new PPV channel that you will have to pay extra for on top of your regular BT Sport subscription fee. http://sport.bt.com/sport/bt-sport-box-office-S11364260381802 https://www.sportbusiness.com/sport-news/bt-sport-launch-pay-view-channel
I can't really understand why they have Canelo GGG down as PPV in the UK? Neither are a name over here to the causal, only really boxing fans know them well and theres certainly a vast amount of people who think the fight is a joke... It's strange from BT because they've had the UFC for years as part of their subscription and that included all the McGregor fights who is a huge name globally. Frampton v Warrington is not PPV, that one is a joke.
Getting more and more expensive to be boxing fans. But hey, long as the boxers get paid though right?
