why am i even talking boxing with mvc lite?

 

He sat on his hands for two and a half years to get out of his contract with Top Rank rather than fight Gamboa like Crawford did. I can't stand fighters who don't want to fight. It signals a lack of heart, cowardice, greed, a lack of love for the sport and it's fans, going back on his word, a weakness of character in a sport that is all about character.

 

He hasn’t fought ANYONE he’s called out.

 

I was about to say the same thing. I'm a Mikey fan, he's a great fighter and should be a star by now. The top fights on your list are the fights that should be happening however in the last few years all I've heard is Mikey call guys out and then those same fights come nowhere near to fruition whilst he has decent enough fights but hardly legacy making ones.

It's not just now though, guy spent two and a half years of his prime inactive and before that he was calling out Gamboa, Gonzalez, Caballero, Mares etc and the same thing happened.

He's also called out for fights with Thurman, Connor McGregor, Crawford, Max Holloway, and Jessie Vargas from memory. Problem is he calls every guy withing a four weight radius out in boxing and MMA and yet the majority of these fights don't even get serious at the negotiating table.

I'd love to see Garcia in a lot of these big fights but when he calls fighters out I just take it with a pinch of salt these days.

 

so what? he hasnt been hiding somewhere protecting a belt while selling wolf tickets. his last 4 fights were a belt at 135, a good fight at the highest weight hes ever fought, a belt 140, and a unification at 135. arum wont let loma or crawford fight him because too much of his profit will go to mikey, so pac and spence are the only real fights that make sense right now. his team seem to be concentrating on that.
i dont know why people get so caught up in this call out business, this aint neighborhood tough guys establishing pecking order, its professional athletes negotiating million dollar contracts... and mikey aint never pretended its anything more than that, like wilder and fury are doing.

 

"Fake thugs can only pretend for so long" Eventually he has to fight the people hes calling out or he becomes the boy who cried wolf and people wont care. Im giving him the benefit of the doubt for now. YOu are absolutely correct on his history though. I cant disagree.

 

I really don't think Mikey will be scoring too many KO's north of 135...

 

Garcia has never negotiated anything. He hasn’t fought anyone. He’s called out everyone. Garcia ducked Linares when it was time to fight him. Mikey thinks he’s Floyd so he is impossible to negotiate with, he thinks he’s something he’s not while he’s losing rounds to the Broner’s and Lipinets of the world. He’s not world class. Why call out opponents you have no intention of facing? Most fighters don’t do that, they actually try to make fights happen.
Fury and Wilder have agreed to fight, they’ve both shown far more balls and class than fraud Garcia.

come on, man. you believe a guy who barely loses rds across 4 divisions, is on all credible p4p lists, but isnt world class. what is the payoff of debating boxing with someone that ignorant? what am i going to gain, or anyone reading, for that matter? a leading BOXING site, debating whether mikey garcia is a world class fighter.

 

Come on bandeedo. You know that especially in the Mexican culture people look down at people who bark loud but don't bite. In other words if you talk big you need to deliver big other wise you turn people off.

 

whos biting harder than mikey right now? whos accomplished more the last 2 years than mikey has? who has positioned himself to even be talked about realistically in so many superfights? he didnt do all that by just barking.

 

Rungvisai? Lomachenko? Golovkin? Inoue? Usyk? Estrada?

 

I love it when guys call out the best in the weight. Nothing wrong with that. What I have issue with is all talk and no action. At some point you have to actually make the fight with one of the guy you are calling out.
