Unfortunately when calculating a KO percentage you have to include the losses.

Yeah that’s BS. And if you go by Your logic, then Bob Satterfield had a 44 %

You gonna tell me Satterfield couldn’t punch?

Also not saying he didn’t deserve the shot over fat boy Don. But in the grand scheme of things it does nothing for his legacy either way. Valdes wasn’t the kind of guy that would have put him in Ali status. We can go fight by championship fight in the HW division and every other fight will be a fight where there was a better guy behind them more deserving. It’s not a big deal to take a fight off. And if Valdes was truly deserving he would have beat Moore but he failed to do so.

I agree except the only issue here is we have a poster (not you) trying to make claims that Don Cockell was just as deserving of a title shot as any contender in history! This kind of fan boy hero worship needs to Stop.

“Truly deserving he would have beaten Moore”

So now to be truly deserving of a title shot you need to beat a hall of famer near his peak? Moore’s a pretty tough out for anyone. Valdes almost beat him too. The fight was close to even going into the 15th. Cockell would have been lucky to last 3 rounds vs Moore

No he brings out posters who are heartily sick of fan boys who eat up with a big spoon all the fairy tales they have ingested and been fed, like tumors on arms, broken bones, teeth smashed and sent flying into the crowd ,anyone he hit flush he knocked senseless etc In short all the fan boy bull**** that would get up the nose of any objective man of maturity who doesn't need a hero to worship! You can be a great champion and still have faults like slow feet, average hand speed ,defensively porous, prone to cuts, suspect balance .Recognizing these failings does not make you a hater, it makes you an objective, unbiased observer.Pretending they never existed marks you down as a fan boy without credibility or gravitas among serious aficionados of the game.

I think you are deluding yourself into believing that Don C was not actually the world Number Two. He was. My issue is that somebody needs to acknowledge that the number two fighter is a pretty deserving challenger.

The only threat was Archie Moore.

No, what you do is look at how many fights he won and then see how many he won by stoppage!

When did a heavyweight contender have a ko loss on his record to a 162lbs middle whilst himself weighing in at lightheavy? Earl Walls would have stopped Cokkell.

You don't think their respective ability to take punches might have had something to do with it? God Almighty how ridiculous!

What? Frazier proved a better chin than marciano and it is a fact, fought better rivals and only george foreman "kod" him, even foreman could not keep joe down. End of history.the myth of the iron chin of marciano is a complete joke.

Nope he was buzzed he said himself, he blacked out for a second or two,he gets up and goes towards the ropes expecting a standing 8 count which was not in operation in title fights. This is all well documented by the way.If I hadn't read Marciano's own opinion I would have assumed the Walcott kd was the more damaging to him,but I have ,and it wasn't.

There is a complete joke here, but it isn't about Marciano's chin!
