The Nevada State Athletic Commission has assigned Connecticut’s Glenn Feldman, Nevada’s Dave Moretti and New Jersey’s Steve Weisfeld to work their second 12-round, 160-pound middleweight championship match September 15 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Bob Bennett, the NSAC’s executive director, suggested those three judges to the five-member commission, which approved them Wednesday during the NSAC’s monthly meeting in Las Vegas. ———————— The NSAC also assigned New Jersey referee Benjy Esteves Jr. on Wednesday to officiate the Alvarez-Golovkin rematch. Bennett suggested that the commission approve the assignment of Nevada referee Tony Weeks to work the Alvarez-Golovkin rematch. Tom Loeffler, Golovkin’s promoter, objected to Weeks working the bout during the meeting. Before the commission approved Esteves, NSAC chairman Anthony A. Marnell III said it was “absolutely absurd” for Loeffler to suggest Weeks isn’t qualified to officiate the rematch. Bennett also defended the potential assignment of Weeks, who was widely criticized for how he handled the conclusion of the Andre Ward-Sergey Kovalev light heavyweight championship rematch in June 2017. Loeffler reiterated he simply was attempting to avoid the potential for controversy because the judging of the first fight created such a firestorm and drew negative attention the sport.
If Loeffler wanted to avoid controversy then he would move this fight out of Nevada altogether but he failed. So he deserves whatever comes his way on September 15th.
Agreed. But the judges are at least solid. Canelo will have the crowd, but he can't count on bogus score cards or PED's this time.
If only Farmy was here... https://www.boxingforum24.com/threa...nett-today-nevada-boxing-commissioner.597230/
Tony Weekes does NOT deserve to officiate this or any other fight until he learns the Marquis pf Queensbury rules of boxing The foul line on a boxers body is the MAVEL not the TESTES Tony As for the judges Old Bob has the two he needs to ensure a Canelo :victory" Moretti & Feldman. Steve Weisfeld is usually solid tho
They are totally wrong not giving Adelaide Byrd a chance to correct her previous card. It's discrimination pure and simple. I imagine she will sue.
Im afraid for Farmy. I hope its he didn't have enough money to pay his wireless phone and nothing worse.
Bob Bennett recommended Tony Weeks huh LOL Dpnt forget Old Bob claimed Adelaide Byrd was one of his best judges after her horrendous 118-110 card for Canelo over GGG. " She just had a bad night" said bob lol
Well lets see, I'm expressing concern for a fellow board member who suddenly stop posting after 16 years, and you're hwre trying to cry out for attention. You're projecting
