In the United States, Progressives have become such busy bodies, they've passed laws to where parents can literally go to jail because they let their kid walk to school or to the park by him/herself. Yet with the same progressives its perfectly fine for Thai parents to let their 5 year old kids engage in life threatening mortal combat.

It's not uncommon for Latino and Asians to turn pro around 15. And then 8 or 9 years later be complete animals in the ring.

So I dont support underage combat. It hasnt seemed to affect a lot of guys who have learned in the pro ranks and risen to top of the sport. Even in a historical context.

I'd say physical development is 90 percent done by 19 or so. And 100 percent done by 25.

Look at Tommy Hearns he was a beast at 19, but even more beast at 25. Yea he could already take on great fighters at 20 or 21. But he didn't really get maximize his potential until his mid 20s.

Same thing with Pacquiao and Barrera. Both were champs as teenagers. But did not totally maximize their destructiveness and ability until around 25.

But more perhaps importantly though is mental development. While a 19 or 20 year old might be 90 percent developed physically. His brain is solidly not an adult. Yes he knows right from wrong but that's not the point. Fact is the brain develops significantly from 20 to 25.

I noticed a major difference when talking to older men after I turned 25 or 26. When I was 20 they were not blatantly rude. But I sure as hell wasnt a part of their "man club" for lack of a better word. That changed though when I got over 25.

That's because people left of center on the political spectrum are usually more tolerant and less authoritarian. The irony is once you go so far left and so far self righteous you can end up being the fascist. Which we have seen to some extent in the modern U.S. with political correctness, speech control, gun control, etc.

Well you dont just improve by fighting people. Ideally steadily improving opposition over time is the best bet for boxing development.

But simply allowing yourself to grow into your body and putting in the time in the gym matters as well.

Barrera turning pro at 15 didn't have a positive outcome on his career. But not really a negative one either.

The thing is when he lost to Junior Jones everybody thought he was done. But then the early 2000s happened. And Manny Steward says and I'm paraphrasing here "He actually looks better than ever before, look at him hes going to be a problem for anybody even Hamed".

On a side note, do forum rules not apply to mods?
