Boxrec lists him as 6' 1/2"

I just said, as PEDs improve, more skinny, lanky people who don't have the muscle mass for boxing can join. More tall people = higher average height

Are these for the fighters' entire careers?

The emergence of better, more athletic specimens in the sport has much more to do than with PED's. You can start with improved neonatal care, early childhood vaccination and health care, improved nutrition and greater availability of quality nutrition year round, greater recruitment across a broader spectrum of ethnicities and perhaps most importantly a reversal of prehistoric inclinations in trainers to avoid STRENGTH TRAINING. PED's are a factor to much less degree than the parts or sum of the above.

Yes that is their entire career. They didn't avoid strength training, they avoided weight training. Calisthenics was incredibly popular. Weight training tightens you up, makes you less flexibile, and hurts your stamina, in exchange for explosive power. The only heavyweights greats that lifted weights is Holyfield in the heavyweight division, Mike Tyson after prison, and Old George Foreman. Earnie Shavers, the hardest puncher ever, didn't lift weights. Prime Tyson, Floyd Patterson, and Muhammad Ali, the most explosive, didn't lift weights.

Ethnicity has nothing to do with boxing.

Food has been decreasing in nutrition and quality.

In combination with the fact that testosterone averages in males are lowering every year, your point makes no sense. We aren't evolving, boxing is an art that can transcend time. It's like how movies are getting worse.

Boxrec is wrong ,as it is on Louis' height. Louis was 6'1.5". Marciano was 5'10.5"

Marciano's height is a huge dispute, some sources listed him at 5'10", 5'10 1/2", 5'11", and 5'11 1/2". Idk about Louis.

I wouldn't normally bother to be pedantic, but since the figures impact on your premise I thought it important. My source for Louis' height is Joe Louis, from his autobiography.

Appreciate the effort but this is a textbook example of correlation not equaling causation.

Proper weight training is very helpful for strength training. There is simply no refuting that. It is the neanderthal who thinks it necessarily "tightens you up"... Weight training has developed far beyond maxing out on bench press and making pretty muscles.

Because Filipinos and Southeast Asians have the same body types as Eastern Europeans and Nigerians. OK.

Calories and nutrients are more consistently available than they were even 50 years ago. Grocery stores in the first world are almost pornographic in their selection. Nutrient dense foods are always in season. Production techniques and incredible developments in distribution have made the modern diet a fashion accessory the choices are so prolific.

They're absolutely capable of having the same body type. body type varies by person, not by ethnicity. Ive seen white, black, asian, hispanics, indians, etc all with the same body type. Though there are some stereotypes/commonalities with race, like Italians having good chins, or blacks having long reaches (both have plenty of exceptions though).

The question is not if they are capable but are they equally likely to provide examples of heavyweight athletes. And it's not about color or race. It's more localized. Nigerians tend to be a different body type and provide a different sort of athlete than a Kenyan, a Ukranian different than a Portuguese... There are always outliers but when we are speaking of the size of heavyweights changing we have to watch how the recruitment base has changed.

You are right on the money, good post .. Food is absolutely less healthy today due to less nutrients in the soil, polluted oceans, streams, lakes, far lees sustainable land, preservates added, air quality.. destroying and reaping our environment, and I can go on and on .. What you will find as a constant in evolution that man does get taller which is a very very very slow but increasing constant over hundreds of years

This is awesome!!!! But I saw two things Tyson’s KO percentage was 76 pct not 88 and who did Marciano fight that was 254? I thought big bill was his largest at 230 thanks!

Men getting taller isn’t evolution as it’s just a sign of a better diet. Mans genes have not changed over the last hundred years but nutrition certainly has.

That's because he, for some strange reason, decided to use the pct of KOs in relation to his wins only - instead of the commonly used pct of ALL fights.

Early in his career Marciano fought 254 Humphrey Jackson.
