Dominic B seems keen to put his WBC status on the line. Winnable for Whyte and would be a fun fight. Let's do it
Chisora 2, Parker 2, Joshua 2, Pulev, Miller, Price, Breazeale, Ortiz, funny how everyone wants to test themselves against WBC #1 Whyte and make a lot of money with his crowd pulling power... except Wilder. Fully expect the WBC to remove Breazeale's mandatory status if he goes through with this fight, thats how low they've gone.
Yeah.. But how stupid would the WBC look if their mandatory gets beaten up? It's bad enough their number 3 is the mandatory and Whyte who is their number 1 is being ignored.
Whyte Miller would have been good. But Miller seems to prefer fighting completely shot fighters (Adamek next in Oct) and then shout lots about he is the greatest which clearly isn't true.
Maybe he's got one eye on being the opponent in AJ's US debut? Sadly I think there's a chilling effect around AJ, once fighters can smell a potential life changing title shot is in the offing they become risk averse. No one wants to lose their place in line for a risky tick over fight.
That's what I'm thinking. Makes sense to me. Assume WBC are happy to make the winner WBC mandatory, it's a fun fight on paper and Whyte should be able to beat Breazeale. Everyone's a winner
It could be a cracker, two guys that are happy to stand and trade, always exciting at HW. I'd say Whyte stars as favourite, but it's not a given if DB brings his best game. It would probably get the WBC out of an embarrassing situation re the Wilder mandatory, although they don't seem to give a monkeys about how they look...
Breazeale is one tough guy. But I rate Whyte higher than most do because he's the only HW who tests the body...... How will Wilder/Breazeale/Ortiz etc react to that? Parker didn't react well to it, and the knockdown from the hook actually helped him as Whyte went to the head more. Neither did Joshua but he did find a way to negate it. Whyte by UD. Breazeale is slower than Whyte, which is hugely worrying as the body work will only slow him even more.
My issue is that I think the WBC are being 'rewarded' for not giving a 'monkeys about how they look' at HW. At Welterweight they got it spot on with Garcia v Porter......1 v 2. Considering Ortiz lost to Wilder, Whyte v Breazeale would be 1 v 2, at least according to their rankings. It would save face!
