another big fight, why would he be ducking one if he fights the other? when is the last time mikey fought a meaningless fight to avoid a better one?

It becomes a duck when you repeatedly call out a guy for close to a year and the guy finally takes you seriously and says "Otay!"

 

Because Mikey has said REPEATEDLY that the Pacquiao fight doesn't interest him. REPEATEDLY. Now he's changed his tune.

 

the only angle I can think of (and I'm obviously speculating here):

Mikey hates Arum and wanted no part of dealing with Arum's fighters.
Manny has gone from being an Arum fighter to being a free agent.

An older, more vulnerable Manny with no ties to Arum might be a lot more interesting to Mikey than he was previously.

 

Smart move by Mikey. The Spence fight is not readily available so he does need a "stay busy fight" before he fights Spence next year and a win over Pac would make that fight even bigger.

 

he knows, mikey has been very vocal about arums reluctance to work with him, ive told him that to his tomatoe account. now that arum isnt controlling who pac fights, its a lot more likely the fight can get made. pac has to choose someone on this level, unless hes on a farewell tour from here on out.

 

Arum has REPEATEDLY stated that he's happy to make the Lomachenko fight. Mikey is the one that has REPEATEDLY stated that Arum won't allow the Lomachenko fight to happen. Arum has worked with Haymon and Oscar in recent times. Mikey's the issue, not Arum.

Basically, you got one guy saying let's go out and the other guy saying it won't happen.

Mikey also called out Linares and Cotto and when offered, declined the fights to fight Broner and Lipinets.

youre an idiot for believing anything bob "today im telling the truth" arum says. loma dont want the pac fight, which arum can get him, but he wants the garcia fight, which arum said mikey wants too much money for, before any negotiations were even mentioned. sounds about right.

 

Mikey name drops but I understand why he didn't want the GBP deal to fight Cotto; it included options on his next two fights. He had just fought to become a free agent, there was no sense in getting tied back down.

As far as Arum's statements, he's Arum. I'm sure he'd make the deal, but not sure if the terms would be one sided. Mikey should be open to dealing with everyone.

 

The sense is that GBP could have made him into a star since GBP has a lock down with the fans in the South West .

It's annoying that he hasn't fought any good opponents.
