Yeah, fans rightfully pelted Daniel Óscar García w/ criticisms of shameless cherrypicking, but he is always and unanimously described as an elite welterweight by boxing writers. One famous scribe said that current Pacquiao had zero shot against Danny. Really? Rios, who Pacquiao schooled coming off of a vicious KO loss and year long layoff, was very competitive until he got sparkled! But why, doe? Tooken deep and hurt by an ancient Morales Gift decisions over Herrera and Peterson Competitive fights w/ Shot Guerrero, Shot Judah, and Extra Shot Rios Hollow resume outside of Khan and Matthysse
Garcia is definitely not a cherrypicker his resume is pretty deep. He doesn't have elite status but with a dominant win over Porter, something no one has managed to achieve to date, he would be considered one of the top 3 guys in the division.
Don’t remember Morales hurting him. Garcia is just an unfashionable fighter, always was and always will be.His optimum weight was 140 and he was very effective there.
Morales definitely stun him. Danny was bleeding and visibly taken back by the flush shots he was eating. It was a heck of a fight and Morales was taking over before that perfect hook nearly flattened him. This content is protected Danny is definitely an overachiever.
I think Danny is still getting credit for the tough run he had a few years ago. I had no problem giving him props back when he iced Khan and then took on Matthysse. Since then, though, he's been carefully managed by Haymon and only really had 1 marquee fight, which he lost against Thurman.
He is good, but limited. He has not fought the elite. He has fought good fighters, and lost to Thurman. It is still hard to rate him. I want to see him against a Pacman or Mayweather level.
