I like how this issue has created the unholy matrimony of Butt and CST.

This is my only opinion on the appropriate level of trauma for children sports.

As someone who was beaten violently with a dowel stick by one of their parents and still have the scars on my scalp to prove it, I only have this to say... Suck it up, you bunch of pussies. Kids are made of stern stuff, it's all in the early conditioning! :ohno

I do have empathy for others, it just doesn't get triggered by boxing. I wouldn't let my kids base jump or wing suit off a cliff, because that's dangerous; but when I see those kids punching each other, I kind of shrug and think "Eh, he'll be fine." Boxing, football, to me they're sports and are only dangerous by ***** standards.

Your way off the mark here.

    It's junior kickboxing.

Kids are knocking each other out weekly in the UK and the US. As I said its 10-17 for Juniors. No different to any other combat discipline except you want to dramatise it into some sort of child welfare issue.

This book by Ryan Holiday may be able to help https://www.amazon.com/Ego-Enemy-Ryan-Holiday/dp/1591847818

    Here is excerpt:

“If ego is the voice that tells us we’re better than we really are, we can say ego inhibits true success by preventing a direct and honest connection to the world around us… The ways this separation manifests itself negatively are immense: We can’t work with other people if we’ve put up walls. We can’t improve the world if we don’t understand it or ourselves. We can’t take or receive feedback if we are incapable of or uninterested in hearing from outside sources.”

No, I'm not interested spawning a brood of rugrats all that much, but that has less to do with any inherent dislike for children and more to do with me having the wherewithal from a young age to know that I'm a very selfish person and that I wasn't sufficient enough doting father material, and I have such a strict sense of personal responsibility that if I can't focused on something as important as raising a child with my full undivided attention, then its probably best for me to not **** up and get someone pregnant, or at the very least wait until I'm much older. That alongside the nagging idea that no matter how much I'd try, somehow or someway this cancerous culture we're living in right now will ruin any child of mine and turn them against me, to have a kid of mine rebel, and go down the wrong path, and potentially ruin their life, and there'd be nothing I could do about it. That would utterly crush someone like me, who as much as I like to pretend like I'm above it, the reality is... I care too much about everyone.

I'm one of those type of guys that gets pissed and enraged when my neighbor gets a dog for their kids, they play with the dog for a few weeks, get tired of it, and chain it up outside and ignore it. That ****ing sickens me, the love and devotion that that dog feels towards the owners is greater than that of most humans, and they care so little, they go days without giving it a second look. They throw it some food and water and that's it. I find that painfully depressing. So I'm kind of an all or nothing guy. If I can't devote myself to something 100% and do the best possible job I can, since I'd owe it to them because I'd be partially responsible for bringing them into this world, then I won't put them through that by bringing them into the world to begin with. My misanthropy is actually rooted in how cruel, unkind, unforgiving and flat out uncaring and evil we all are to each other. I care too much, that people care so little, which causes me to hate most people with a passion, yet truly value the few genuinely good ones amongst us.

Put it this way, my misanthropy is kind of like the Frank Castle and Dexter Morgan variety. Just without all of the bloodthirsty vigilantism. Which is why I have no issue with the death penalty for people who deserve it and I'm an ardent defender of the police. I hate moral relativism with a passion, and while I used to be a hesitant nihilist, I've grown to have nothing but disdain for it now.

    I share way too much.

I'd rather be controlled by my ego than be at the mercy of my id 24/7, which seems to be the driving force for many of the immoral ghouls on here.
