Sharkey beat the less skilled, but equally large Carnera. Could Sharkey have what it takes to get the job done against Bruno?
He would and it would count against him .Sharkey maybe have being the better all round boxer ,but in this case I see Bruno overpowering him .Bruno by ko 5
Bruno was a hard puncher and would be landing on an opponent up to 40 or so pounds lighter than him. I can't say how Sharkey would deal with that kind of power. On the other hand, Bruno never seemed to make the best use of his punching power against the most top tier opponents he fought.
That's true but the top tier guys he lost to were all pretty sturdy. Smith ,Spoon ,Tyson and Lewis all big fellas in there own way .I just don't see Shark's absorbing Bruno's clubbing right s effectively.
Sharkey had great timing and was excellent on getting inside and landing his power shots. He had no problem knocking down Carnera, who was bigger and had a longer reach than Bruno. Sharkey also had a smeaky left hook that could chop down any heavyweight if it connected. Sharkey vs. Carnera This content is protected
If Sharkey brings his A game, then this is a mismatch. If he doesn't, then Bruno still needs a lot of luck to win.
The problem is he didn't often bring his A game. Certainly not against Loughran [1 fight] Rojas Risko Heeney Walker Levinsky Gorman Weinert x 2 He only just squeeked by Ko Khristner!
