    Colin Jones.

He had genuine power winning the British, Commonwealth and European titles by KO, famously stopping Kirkland Laing twice.

Many believe that Jones deserved the decision in both subsequent title fights with McCrory and there is no doubt that a consecutive draw and split decision loss did set his career back significantly, particularly in an era when British fighters were rarely given a second chance.

Had he won these fights his career may well have taken a more positive direction and I’m sure he would have achieved more. More money, more motivation and better training opportunities might well have made all the difference for Jones.

While it is likely that Donald Curry would always have beaten Jones, it was, to be fair, a very unlucky cut and it can always be a different fight on a different night. Had this been Jones’ first real set back then it is more likely that he would have sought a rematch and boxed on.

However after the Curry loss Jones had had enough. He retired at the age of just 26 with a record of 26 wins with 23 KOs 2 losses and a draw.

Interesting to note that in the two McCrory fights they used six ounce gloves.

If the drunken warrior had disciplined himself, let the weed smokin' go & worked on strength as his conditioning was over the top full of energy, he would've been a champ.
One of the best of (his) era.

I think he beat Micky Ward and of course the fight where Teddy Atlas lost what little mind he had to protest the decision. 4got who it was.

    Sanchez for me.

23 years old, 4 victories against current or future champs, two of them future ATGs.

    Dead in a car crash.

    Sometimes, life is bull****.

Ike and Valero obviously com to mind. However...what about Paul Spadafora? Highly skilled, unbeaten and and beat up Mayweather in sparring. I would have loved to see him fight Floyd officially
