As most of you will know, there's a good chance boxing will be removed from the Olympics very shortly. AIBA now is implementing changes to try to prevent that from happening. The real problem is that it's not "competence" but rather favoritism or even corruption. But it seems like the IOC wants to get rid of Rakhimov entirely. Do you guys think we'll have boxing at the coming Olympics or not?
sincerely hoping that it is. Seems dusgusting that these men & women are having their dreams ripped away from them because of corruption way above their pay grade. EDIT: probably not fair for those same fighters to go and "win" a medal, only for the result to go against them because of aforementioned corruption, but to entirely deny them the chance to compete would be awful
No, I think what IOC president wants in a such short period is very unlikely but I believe that boxing will be in 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
Maybe video games will take boxing's place in next Olympics, haha, that is one of the possible replacements.

Man, I really wanted to see Karate at the 1992 Olympics, as I would have had a pretty good chance to qualify. Here we are over 25 years later and I can't even lift my legs enough anymore to place a somewhat decent kick edit: 1992 instead of 1996
At a certain point ratings play a role too. Boxing gets a fraction of the viewers gymnastics do and those are the two competitions in the Olympics with the most continuous and large stage corruption. I see it going the way of the dodo. EDIT: Obviously that is not what I want, but what I think.
Can anyone think of a more corrupt sport than boxing? From Olympic to the pro level, there is no real major body which overseas matters of corruption.
Is the karate part gonna be people kicking bricks or will it be people beating the **** out each other?
We'll see if it's enough. I doubt it will be, last thing I read on this the IOC weren't happy with what they had done so far. Wouldn't shock me if it's not in the 2020 games but it might be what's needed to clean up the sport, but the danger is once out, they don't get back in and without the Olympics the sport at a grass root level could die.
This 'no protest' rule is ridiculous. If this rule was applied when Loma faced that Brazillian clincher, he would be eliminated from the competition unfairly and without fair review of the competition. I was there in boxing Asian Games final. The DPRK female boxer did fight better than the Chinese. And I have seen both of them from day one, up to quarter final, semi final, then the final. AIBA truly has a lot of homework. Another thing, as much as I fancy amateur boxing match without headgear, it pains me to see that many of them were forced to quit due to the cuts and injuries and caused cancellation of many matches by WO victories.
