    Around 30 or so?

Obviously fighters who are more skill based than athletically based can have a longer prime because they are still learning and improving technically past that age.

I think it's a 'How long is a piece of string' question with the answer depending on the individual and how many miles they have on their clock.

It's roughly going to be somewhere between 28-32 with the bigger guys perhaps peaking a little later.

I think its later now from my observations.

Such an inidvidual thing. Seen some guys completely finished in their 20's and you have guys who age like a McLaren Vale shiraz.

Sometimes guys who had too many amateur fights peak much earlier than other pros. They can burn out alot faster than they should. Their physical peak as far as athleticism is different than their peak in boxing skills. Their reflexes can often be deteriorated by the time some of their opponents are coming into their prime.

Medically speaking most people start to physically decline at 30 but we are not talking about most people were talking about elite athletes.

The rigorous training will delay or even reverse some of the bodies natural decline. Reflexes may lose their sharpness but attributes like strength and stamina may not peak until their 30's.

I think in most sports now athletes peak later than they used to and for longer and their decline begins later. I think this is because training methods have improved and athletes now achieve a level of fitness that simply wasn't reached by athletes of the past and it takes longer to reach this higher summit of physical fitness.

I think as long as a fighters training is consistent throughout the later stages of their career and they don't lose focus and self discipline like Tyson and Bowe then a fighter could still be prime as late 35 years of age. But most will probably decline before then as injuries over the years take it's toll, discipline wanes as more distractions in life take your focus away from boxing.

I think it also depends on the skills you are relying on. Speed may start to dissipate but a good boxer can compensate through technique and ringcraft.

I’d say on average 32, some more, some less.

Hormone use can extend this peak much further, 5-10 years.

PEDs can keep a guy elite for well past the due date. See JMM and Mayweather for examples.

I would say at about 27 or 28 depending on the boxer you are a good as you are going to get. Then by 30 to 31 you start to decline. It seems rare that two boxers meet in their absolute prime.

about 30 for most, but since it balances out with continued learning and maturity, then perhaps you notice it dropping off around 34/35 in dedicated athletes.

No coincidence that its around the same age studies suggest men are out of the sexual peak.

I wonder if women boxers, who reach their sexual peak after Men are out of theirs, also have a similar correlation?
