For all those saying ‘it was Brook’s decision’ and ‘Hearn has to tell him all possible fights’ you have to ask yourself whether other mainstream promoters would have taken that chance? Not to restart the Frank v Eddie debate but there is no chance Warren would have thrown one of his biggest stars into a fight like that. Hearn had GGG signed and probably on the cheap (for someone so big in UK). He knew he would do half a million buys, a full O2 and he didn’t want to lose it. I can’t believe he would have let Brook fight GGG on someone else’s show for the same purse. It was a selfish decision from Hearn and one that has come back to bite him. He doesn’t have any real top quality domestic stars outside Joshua and maybe Bellew in circus acts. That’s why we are getting Whyte headlining in ‘stacked’ cards. Between the GGG loss and the retirement in the Spence fight he has lost his most naturally gifted fighter. A man who could have headlined numerous PPVs in real fights. I was a big Brook fan, but have zero interest now. I will watch a Khan fight if it happens but it will only be out of curiousity. Neither are real fighters at this stage, just money grabbing at the end of careers that should have been better.
Whether Hearn wanted Brook in a fight with GGG or not, it was still Brook who would have had the final say. Brook wasn't just a young kid who would do whatever his promoter says, he was an experienced top boxer who had his own mind and makes his own decisions. I also think if Brook/Khan did happen then it wouldn't be just an end of career fight as I think the winner could get another shot at a world title.
Funny how the hardcore's moral conscience has limited coverage to Matchroom fighter's. Brook-GGG was a poor matchup and certainly not competitive. But many seem to confuse the role of promoter and manager.
No one is confusing the two roles. We know that Eddie’s role is to offer the fights. We are saying that he should never have offered GGG. It’s that simple. Some people will go to any lengths to defend Hearn. I wish some interviewer would take him to task on this.
There is zero point in trying to take Hearn to task on anything....!!!! He has somehow spun AJ knocking back 80 million dollars into 'the offer for Wilder to fight for $15 million flat is still on the table'....He does this thing where if you keep repeating something it becomes the truth... Kell got his biggest payday etc etc....If Brook had fought and beat Thurman after Porter he would have been richer in the long run without having doctors to bury through the roof of his mouth and take his eye ball out and fix his face!!...Obvs after that he was fucxed
In criticism of Hearn, he often blurs the line between manager and promoter through his own doing in interviews. He made a panic call in asking Brook to fight GGG and it has finished him as a world level fighter. I'd be more inclined to ask questions to those around Brook in terms of why he took the fight. But it's still ultimately Brook's decision.
Mayweather loved to dangle the carrot for Khan, he seemed to take great pleasure in it for some reason. Khan would have learned from this and will do the same to Brook. I can see him pushing for the Pacquiao fight which Manny is keen on. Khan beats Brook by TKO without even stepping into the ring.
That whole repeating something until it becomes the truth thing... yeah that’s the definition of brainwashing and it’s highly highly effective. Watch sky sports news / the #vileBBC for a day on loop you’ll believe anything their pumping into your living room
from reading the report on WBN it seems like hearn has told kell to get back to 147 as he will be in a big fight before the end of year. Brook asked who he is fighting, eddie just said its gonna be a big fight. kell will make weight as he always does but he will be drained no doubt.
Brook has sadly become and irrelevance. He's not even a huge ticket seller, apprantly Dave Allen sold more tickets for the last Sheffield fight than brook, which is why they always want him on the brook cards. Brook went chasing the big money and got exposed, unfairly or not, but he took the fights and people have lost interest, of and he has quit in him which no-one likes in a boxer.
Exactly how I see it..Where though was the protection from Brooks management and promoter against a fighter like GGG??? It evaporated when the dollars were there, the one I cant understand is the Spence fight though. Serious surgery, no warm up after and i'm assuming a struggle to get down to 147 after putting on weight for GGG and going in against a quality fighter in Spence. Unless he's got something in writing from Hearn or Khan has to fight Brook in his contract with Hearn, i'd call it a day on the spot. Can anyone tell me if the end deal in Kahn's contract is a match up with Brook???? I'm sure it was mentioned on here when Kahn signed
