Why Canelo beats GGG

    ever since the vanes fight ive been convinced that ggg is going to lose the rematch. i was already sure ggg was slowing down, but it wasnt ever really obvious, till the vanes fight. i saw a ggg very slow to react, less snap on his punches. and looking unsure at times.
    the videos below kind of illustrate what im seeing. one is from 3 years ago, the other from last week. i want you to notice ggg's response time when abel touches him and the speed and power of his punches. ideally, you want to shoot the counter as soon as you feel the glove touch your arm to catch him still in range.
    let me know what your take is on what you see.

    I disagree, I thought after the first fight, all GGG needed to do was change the trajectory of his straight right and anticipate where Canelo will be after he pivots away to his left, as opposed to punching directly at a target that won't be there by the time his punch gets there. That and add in some uppercuts at awkward angles, well, watch the Vanes match, he clearly saw that those two adjustments could be useful, and utilized and perfected both against Vanes.

    strategy is all well and good, but if youre speed is no longer world class, the strategy is not going to be the difference. did you see any difference in speed and snap in the 2 videos?

    because i actually believe what i write, and i have an excellent track record of being right. why would i be afraid of making a wrong pick when all my reasoning is solid and not clouded with emotion... or fear?

    Easier said than done. GGG is 35. Adjustments like that are not very easy to make at that age. By the time a fighter is in his early 30's he's using everything he learned through out his career, not necessarily learning new things, and GGG doesn't come across as the learning type.

    Canelo doesn't just pivot away either, he also ducks and pivots, or uses upper body movement to evade punches.

    GGG needs to make big adjustments if he wants to win, whereas Canelo's most obvious adjustment is his stamina which I suspect will be much better now that he will likely be better acclimated to MW.

    and i predicted ggg would edge that fight, not ko, not tko, but win a close one. this one, i predict canelo by at least 3 rds. i analyse fights like a professional gambler, not a professional fan.

    i dont really bet on sports, im strictly a poker player, but if i had bet on all the picks ive made, both right and wrong, i would be way ahead in my winnings.
    i would like to know what you saw in the videos, if anything.

    The thing that stood out to me was Abel wearing jeans in the ring. But seriously, though, GGG seemed a more "fluid" in the second video. And also, he looked much leaner too. Was he closer to fight night in the second video?

    I agree. If strategy was all a fighter needed then James Toney, Bernard Hopkins and Pernell Whitaker would all be dominating boxing right now.

    At some point you have the skills, but the body says no. You need some level of athletic attributes to be able to apply your skill.
