i dont disagree, turning up to lay down was disgusting, whether he had any ability or not counts for nothing with that attitude. i hope he is never seen in a boxing ring again to be honest. anyone stupid enough to pay for that gets what they deserve.

 

I think Martin's performance against Joshua did not do his ability justice - I'm not saying he should have given Joshua problems, but he really did seem like he went a bit "deer in the headlights" and when he needed the performance of his career to look any good at all he went full ******.

I think on the right day he could give a few guys problems, but realistically I'd say he'd be a gatekeeper for legit top ten guys as opposed to a legit contender of his own.

 

The "Fight" was as legit as Wilder-Scott.

 

In a world where many people say "Cornelius Bundrage is the worst titlist ever" when he's clearly far from it, yes, Charles Martin is exactly as terrible, relative to being a title holder, as people say.

Charles Martin is actually a quality fighter, he just got caught cold - nothing more.

He's a good quality world level fighter in the HW division.

 

I'd actually like to see Martin against some decent mid-level fighters again, just to see where his level truly lies. So far all we really have to go on is the Glazkov fight, where he wasn't doing too badly. I suspect he's a bit better than what we've seen thus far, though he's obviously far from world level. Wouldn't be surprised to see him give guys like Mansour and Szpilka a test. He looks awful on the eye test, but so did Tony Thompson, and his size and awkwardness alone gave guys a lot of problems.

He's big and can punch a bit so he shouldn't be regarded as a complete bum but his fundamentals are nowhere near good enough, glass chin hanging in the air like a hanging basket. Kownacki will stop him.

 

I don't think his boxing skills are that bad, tbh, it was just a huge mismatch in hand speed and overall athleticism. Joshua would have knocked him out even if you could transplant Angelo Dundee's brain into Martin's skull.
