    (1996) info:
    Record: 74-4 (68) 1996
    Quality of competition: 9
Bouts vs Top 50 fighters: 3
Why He`s Here: Because he`s history. And he can punch a bit too. (1996)
What He Could Have Done To Better His Ranking: Lost his plane ticket to Zaire. Do you think Foreman`s legacy could have been drastically altered if he never fought Ali in that classic bout in Zaire?

I'm not sure how he could have done in his day to look better, but he holds the record for the longest break between holding the title. Probably will never be bettered in this department.

He is the one who fits the bill of having a puncher's chance in every fight.

I think the Jimmy Young fight showed how cemented his feet could look. Had Foreman fought a young Cassius Clay with energy to burn, it would've been a shutout.

Fighters who stood and slugged like Lyle was his best chance to rank higher. I think the Mike Spinks that lost to Tyson, may have beatan Foreman, because of how mechanical/methodical Foreman could look.

I could rate Foreman top 20 of HW's from 1990s-today.
I can't rank him top 50 of all fighters in the past 50 years. Maybe top 150 of the past 50 years.

'The Ring' is a tragic shadow of itself since De la Hoya bought it, moved it's base to LA, and fired all the competent writers to replace them with bloggers like Doug Fischer. I miss the days of Goldman, Collins and Dettloff. I haven't bought it for years after religiously buying it for two decades.

Lets pretend he somehow managed to loose a decision in Zaire, didn´t loose against Young and instead against Holmes, he could be rated a little higher.

But there is no way he was winning the Rumble.

I also think there was no room for "ducking" Ali, who successfully rematched Norton and Frazier.

Ducking Muhammad Ali was not even on his radar, he said he had concerns about hurting him.

In my opinion Foreman vs Moorer is the most improbable victory in the history of boxing. Foreman had been outboxed by Tommy Morrison and had to go to court to get this title shot .Michael Moorer knew the only way he could lose is if he got hit with a big right hand. He's a southpaw, which means everyone tried to land the right-hand against him .Teddy Atlas was screaming at him .It trumps Douglas vs Tyson to me .

Big George. I would still put him in the top 50 today. Top 3 HW all time to me. Although lack of title defenses def hurts that claim to me he beat enough contenders in the right eras. His win over Moorer is enough to make most grown men shed a tear. Maybe an emotional pick but I’m taking him
