I thought Johnny Nelson's advice for Langford should be directed to the Egg. You ain't gonna finish up in a good way fighting like that, especially when you consider he's 24.
He’s got zero defence, it’s not just a one off performance he’s fought a lot of guys who were feather fisted and when he’s lost it’s been due to him being outboxed but he’s always shipping way to many shots clean shots. he’s moved up in weight he’s not got the huge size advantage and he’s taken a vicious beating he should hang it up before he’s seriously hurt.
No where to go for him really. Wondering if all the head shots has taken its toll on him already...looked to me like a guy who,s reflexes we,re done. Britain needs to review the style it teaches imo. A bit too straight up. No real nous with it. A crying shame that a lot of these trainers are teaching take one to give one strategy's. Winning fights by boiling down on the scales and coming in stronger. Always preffered the ingles and booths style over most of the British styles. At least gives their guys some tools to make the opponents apprehensive to throw...at least till the very top level anyway. Needing to outlaw the standard British style. Americans got a slick style that has its own problems but at least gives them tools to avoid punches to an extent....the current Russian styles gives their guys the tools. The British is all about how much you can take to grind out the victory. Need to start thinking outside the box.
I wouldn’t judge the British style of fighting nor it’s training methods on Sam Eggington, mate. He not only disrespected his opponent, he disrespected the opportunity he had been given and ultimately disrespected himself. Hang the gloves up, go and get a normal job and if you want a fight i’m sure some p*****d idiot will oblige you outside a kebab house somewhere. I know that might sound harsh but I liked the kid. Proper let himself down.
Was it really that bad ? I never saw any of that bill last night, where did Eggy go wrong, break it down if you could
It was similar to that 30 seconds where eggington let maliganaggi clip him 4 times unanswered, possibly trying to show some misplaced bravdo. However this African kid carried more snap and consequently nearly snapped eggington's jaw.
I think Eggington knows he is a hard man. That culminated with a low boxing iq, a mind which clearly drifts with thoughts and underestimating his opponent has resulted in a disaster performance. No doubt Eggington could keep filling up a few cards for entertainment value, however it may be time for him to walk away from boxing while he still can.
Shocking mate. Neglected all defence, had his hands by his sides taking consecutive clean shots. At first I just thought he was sparked on his feet but it was just utter bravado from Eggington.
Thats bad, who trains eggy ? He had a good run there for bit, thats a shame he just messed around and never respected his opponent.
I wonder if anyone had a bredis prescott moment at the weigh in and put huge money on the early KO ?????
Have to admit I did not think Vargas had enough pop to even wobble Khan but I was totally wrong. Khan was avoiding that right hand like it was stuck to a huge puncher. There is very little punch resistance there and you’re not going to avoid taking a clean shot against a top 10-15 fighter for 12 rounds. Like @Jurgen said, maybe this is just what he needed and he’ll be better for a couple more fights but he just looked goosed after 6 rounds. The attacks were few and far between and the pop had gone out of his shots. You have to think that if you can get past the first 5-6 rounds against Khan, you have a chance of taking him.
