Will Hearn make it through his 2 year ‘Probation’ with DAZN?

It'll all depend on whether he can build some cross over stars or not in the US. He ain't gonna get Haymon lot etc as they are already overpaid and happy fighting once a year so he's gonna have to find them elsewhere and make big fights that capture the imagination.

He has enough foreigners stars to prop the content up with an active roster of decent fights with Joshua, Usyk, Beterbiev etc but really needs some US fighters than can be in the huge fights that will actually attract people to buy. Jacobs and Hooker ain't going to do that, he really needs to find some guys out of nowhere really.

His WWE style promoting could work well over there but not without the stars to showcase it.

Not directly to do with Hearn, but this video shows the mentality of these US fighters- many of which he’s made offers to and largely been laughed at. They are like a band of Bros under Haymon and would never in a million yrs come off Showtime and leave Al etc. Even Big Baby Miller will probably be off after his 3 fight deal is over.

You can say the same thing with the Matchroom groupies Bellew, Joshua, Froch, Johnny Nelson, Sky

 

Most of them look high as fcuk/ liquored up especially Davis and Spence. But it was all pretty much horseplay, between Team Al Haymon fighters.
If you listen closely, Broner and Davis etc also start ripping Streaming services ‘“we aint fighting on apps”

 

They have a combined IQ of around 10

 

The DAZN deal is great for the American audience but less so for the British Sky side- Matchroom’s roster will inevitably be spread thinner both sides of the Atlantic.

Add into the fact that the American audience are paying a flat $10 fee per month with reasonable start times whereas the British audience are paying £40 plus PPV costs a month (admittedly with a lot of other sports covered) with half of the cards starting in the middle of the night.

The DAZN/Sky situation is worth watching as I don’t see how in one territority you can charge so little and in another you charge so much for essentially the same content. A Sky PPV in the UK alone will cost nearly three times as much as a month’s worth of content on DAZN.

 

Maybe but then combine their bank accounts. That’s all that really matters in this life we have to live.

Well I'll be subbing tomorrow when signups open up. Who knows if they don't do well for the first 2 years, maybe the DAZN folks will be just as stupid as the Fox people with the PBC and re-up anyway. Well I hope so anyway, the more boxing available to me (easier to come by then it is now) the better.
