I was just thinking, if Canelo goes on to become ATG one day then that means 3G drew with an ATG.

Which is worth something special! That draw with an ATG would be 10 times better than anything else on 3Gs resume.

Do you Canelo will become HoF or ATG one day, restropectively giving 3G much more value to his draw with Canelo.

If he cleans out this MW division, and picks up a belt at SMW by beating a top SMW may be.

Yes he'll be a HOF ATG like super Joe Calzaghe.

HOF probably, ATG I don't think so. I don't think he makes top 10 Mexican fighters, to me he's just slightly above Castillo

    Decent thread.

I think its certainly possible for him to, if he maintains his current form.

He's already got a very solid resume that might well be HOF worthy already.

Cotto, Angulo, Lara, Trout, Mosley, Chavez and Smith are all good scalps and there are more which are "not bad" like Kirkland, Ndou and Cintron. He's probably got another 5 years before he starts declining physically and even at his slow 2 fights a year pace, if he adds 10 decent scalps to that, he could be, yes, an ATG.

its not Hof worthy, its just a good case for elite so far. But the door is open to what the future may or may not bring.

I agree that he might be one day of course, HoF or even ATG, thats the purpose of my thread.

HoF is about performing above elite surely, being something that marks you out as being "famous" for something extraordinary, even if its a one off eg Barry McGuigan foxing Pedrosa that one night. But Barry would never get to ATG whatever he tried.

    He has the skill set.

The only thing holding him back are:

    The allegations of PED abuse
    Political favours
    Weight-class mismatches
    Handwraps of a dubious nature
    Golden Boy backdoor dealings
    Athletic commission favouritism
    WBC bias
    Corrupt scoring

Aside from that, he is a dead cert.

If he can beat Golovkin in a decisive fashion it will certainy help his case (and likely guarantee him future HOF status) but he will also need to back it up with solid wins over the likes of Jacobs, Saunders, Charlo, Derevyanchenko and Andrade before, in my mind, we can seriously begin to think of him as an ATG. Personally, I believe that as long as he remains dedicated to honing his skillset and perfecting his craft, then there is a reasonable chance we will see him achieve ATG status in the future.

He'll definitely make the HoF, he's got a chance at being an ATG but he will have to clean out / dominate what is now a stacked MW division.

That's a great objective and knowledgeable post coming from a Golovkin fan, thanks for that.

Alvarez? An all-time great? My, my how standards have lowered. Alvarez has a disputed win over Lara, eeked out a win against Trout, got schooled by the smaller Mayweather, had a nothing special win against Cotto and a disputed draw against Golovkin. I just don't see all-time great skills in this guy. To be frank, given his current resume', he shouldn't make the hall of fame. Just shows how watered-down boxing has become.

Stop obsessing over BCS Herol. Just because he owns you is no reason to worship him.
