1. Hurricane Harry Greb 2. Bob Fitzsimmons 3. Mike Gibbons 4. Jimmy Mclarnin 5. Charley Burley 6. Tommy Gibbons 7. Packey McFarland 8. Barney Ross 9. Sandy Saddler 10. Jack Johnson A list conjured up by me, SambaKing, sitting with my 1920s newspaper clippings and Cuban cigar in the corner of a run down, smokey, Bronx tavern. Now excuse me as I go and call the barmaid 'darling' and hurry on back with my half whiskey to indulge in my Jackie Blackburn biography! Cheers!
Too bad the boot. That's not a bad list in some respects. Missing Langford and Robinson and Louis. Otherwise, most of those are in the running.
Pretty sure he was being sarcastic. Probably better than his real list P4P all time list. I'm guessing something like: 1. Vasiliy Lomachenko 2. Terence Crawford 3. Gennady Golovkin 4. Floyd Mayweather Jr 5. Andre Ward 6. Manny Pacquiao 7. Saul Alvarez 8. Roy Jones Jr. 9. Roman Gonzalez 10. Sugar Ray Leonard (Not that those aren't all great fighters, just a terrible list)
Yeah, I sensed the dripping sarcasm. But in turn, he made a somewhat plausible list, at least a list of Great (capital G), top level fighters if not all top 10ers... and I am hardly the old crusty type. Meanwhile, your list is almost too on point to be humorous. I see that sort of tripe all the time.
Canelo did better at middle than Leonard and Jones would of, he is a better middleweight than Jones was, not just a better p4p fighter.
It would be nice if the forum had a stickied boxing historian starter kit of a couple books to read. Fedora and unlit cigar optional.
