A faded 160lber who never really had any real competition during his prime Vs Old Floyd's leftovers who is a drugs cheat I think even the first time this matchup was overrated going in. It's sort of depressing how easily excited we get over certain fights. Historically this isn't a big fight.
I’m looking forward to meeting with friends and family whilst partaking in food and drink. The fight will set the backdrop for these festivities
Stop being such an emo. Just enjoy it. The plot thickens after this in the MW division. GGG-Canelo set the bar. No more ducking for anyone.
Seriously you came on here to ask that?first fight albeit technical and not the tear up expected was imo one of the fights of the year as it was competitive with some great skill showed by both. Personally being a fan of quality boxing, the fight delivered as I expect the rematch to do so. Re yourself and your obvious hang ups on em both, can you not just sit back and enjoy the boxing without having a vested interest in both guys? Granted if I was fanboy I might of struggled as it wasn’t decisive enough for the judges to pick a winner.
That sounds excellent cause after all said and done it’s family and friends that are important, mother in Law jokes aside it’s family that can make us happy esp when they pay the $80 PPV fee lol
Yes and let’s hope it does as even if Golovkin and Canelo fight a third time it gives the rest some time to eliminate each other to get their fight with these two.
I don't have the same excitement as I had for the first fight at all. Byrd made the whole thing sour, as did the failed tests and as has the extremely forced 'trash' talking between the two. GGG was happy to lose his IBF belt to keep this fight going and it wasn't because of legacy, it's because he wanted the Canelo money again. So my interest has wavered significantly. I hope it's another good fight and I hope it ends in a stoppage either way (cleanly) just so this chapter can be buried.
How can you not be excited about this fight as a boxing fan? We have two top operators who both carry their own star power battling it out for the championship of one of our most prestigious divisions. Hell yeah we are excited. On top of that it is a classic styles fight with the youthful boxer carrying a speed advantage against an older puncher with the skills and power to brutalize even the most formidable of opponents. It is a semi-mega fight that could go either way, and it definitely deserves our attention.
GGG had proven himself to be the top man of the division prior to Canelo moving up. The emergence of some of the better contenders at the weight is a breath of fresh air and a promise of a future for the division, but those guys have not proven that they would be able to hang with the champ as of yet. So until he fights them, Golovkin deserves the benefit of the doubt that he would/could defend against them. As for Canelo, he is accomplished at 154, and I agree that it remains to be seen where he really ranks at MW. Either way, the winner should have to face the other contenders after this fight.
Listen man if you don't care for it don't watch. No need to bring others down by making a such a negative thread
What a negative nancy the OP is. OP, get out of here with this BS "historically this isn't a big fight". It's the biggest fight in boxing.
an intradivisional elite clash is basically bigger than George Groves (if he does) or 2Slyk unifying their one division each. This is the biggest fight of the year. Top elite of one division vs top elite of another. It will decide who is top of two divisions, not just one. Thats Ward Kov, Ward Dawson level. Intradivisional unifications happen several times a year but this kind, the interdivisional title bout, only happens now and again each year.
