I’m waiting for your breakdown of how many different media outlets, pundits and boxing experts scored the fight.
Thanks man. Yeah, I was the head honcho on that last time. lol. Not sure I'll do it this time but I know someone started a thread on the topic. I just don't have as much time as I used to have. But I'm curious, for sure. Here is that "How did experts score the fight?" thread for the rematch: https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/boxing-experts-and-legends-opinion-on-the-fight.614910/
You're clearly too emotional to think rationally but I'll give it a try anyway. GGG became my favorite fighter around the time of the Stevens fight primarily based on his constantly come forward style which was very reminiscent of JCC. I became a bigger fan with every victory thereafter cause he had an exciting style and just kept mowing those guys down. But I never lost sight of the fact that he was not facing elite fighters(not blaming him for that) and that that might have a lot to do with why he was looking so superior to them. It didn't matter to me though, because all I wanted to see was him knocking fighters out. Bottom line, the minute he stepped it up, he started losing some luster. A prime Canelo just legitimately beat a bad ass mofo named GGG, a prime GGG was beating up on b-type fighters at best.
What I also liked in this fight was the respect shown by both in the end. Whatever GGG felt about the first fight and the positive test, Canelo rightfully earned GGG's respect tonight and got it at the end of the fight as he should have. The judges are the judges, and positive tests are always bad for the sports. But both guys did their thing tonight and, in that regard, it was a good night for the sport and for them, individually. I feel bad for GGG but he'll be fine. He doesn't have anything to prove to anyone at this point in his career.
He took these fights as he was older. That can’t be disputed. Just like it can’t be disputed that the guys in the top 10 that be fought and bulldozed during his run was impressive.
Who were these B Type fighters you talk off ? Are you not forgeting Canelo fought, several fringe world level British fighters, take a look at his record, you can pick holes in most fighters records including Canelo
Yeah, very good comparison. Uh, you do know JCC had issues with Taylor and Whitaker, right? And I love JCC. Give GGG some slack. He's 36 and pressure fighters don't age well. JCC was 31 or so when he fought Whitaker and 32 or so when he fought Randall the first time. Guys age, none faster than pressure fighters.
I would give Canelo props if he lost like he should have. He definitely proved himself but he definitely lost both fights. I would give him credit for standing 12 x2 vs GGG, he did that. I’m not convinced there are many middleweights out there that can claim that. But he lost both fights. End of story. He was “awarded” a draw the first fight. He can have the belts. He can have the “victory” tonight. GGG is the supererior boxer, end of story.
Agree 100 percent. Canelo has had his share of gimme fights but overall his resume is superior to GGGs and that's not really disputable. The B type fighters I"m talking about are the Rubios, Stevens, Ishidas, Rosados, Macklins, I can go on and on. Even a fighter like Lemiux is not considered an A-type fighter.
I agree with pretty much all of this. I do feel bad for GGG, but I feel good for Canelo even though I was not happy with him coming into the fight. I am a big GGG fan. But I know he's near the end, and he's proven it all. He deserved a win both times, I felt, but I think many people know that and I still want to give Canelo props for what happened.
Wrong. Canelo deserves props for standing toe to toe with GGG. He absolutely did that and deserves credit for being the guy to do that. He doesn’t deserve any recognition for being the victor against Golovkin, as he wasn’t last September nor was he this one. Golovkin didn’t lose tonight, boxing did.
