I've said it all along, boxing needs to scrap judges and go old school. How a fight is decided by someones opinion is beyond me, how stupid does that sound? It's time to scrap points decisions and let the fight be decided in the ring. A fighter only gets the win by stoppage or knockout. This puts more responsibility on the ref and the corners but so be it, anything to get rid of these dirty decisions.
Round 13, a knife, a mace and a sledge hammer appear out of a hidden hatch in the ring. Meanwhile the timekeeper goes home.
Who was the idiot who claimed something about this win being a 'Smart Robbery'....Or something similar? If Canelo entered the ring with a shotgun and pumped a bullet straight into his chest it would've been a 'Clever tactic'.
most sports are totally taking physical contact out, but you think Boxing is going to revert to rules from the 1800's?
'Story of the fight'......I'd rather listen to Carl Froch tell us about the time 3.8 million people crammed into Wembley to watch him defeat George Groves. You could tell HBO had an agenda.... I've never heard Lampley and RJJ agree on anything before.
if we didn't just turn the judging over to compubox there could be ways to improve the process. How about more judges, say 10 for a big card. They score each fight but only 3 of their cards will count for any fight. The process of selection is randomised and takes place before the fight starts. Much harder to buy a judge when you don't know which one is going to be scoring your guy...
