Can someone explain to me how GGG has the “highest consecutive number of MW title defences”?

    I thought you had to defend real belts in order to earn that distinction. Over half of GGG’s title defences are of his WBA Interim belt. Why do people keep saying he has broken Hopkins record when he hasn’t even come close ?

    He's got 8 defenses of the real WBA belt.

    he hasnt its 8 or 9, common knowledge.

    But he will break to total number, just wait and see. Hes not finished yet.

    Because with the proliferation of titles, the meaning of statistics like this gets undermined. Same thing happens in baseball with the expansion of the "post-season." Like you, I favor limiting the statistic to as narrow a definition as possible. Official titles only, please, and then, only clearly recognized "major" belts.
