We all know, even the Canelo die-hards, that GGG won this fight. They know it in their guts. They know that if the tables were turned and the exact same stats were reversed Canelo would have won this fight by a much bigger margin. We know that if this fight were fought in Europe or just about any other place outside of the Hispanic world, GGG walks away the clear victor. So to try and parse it and try to justify Canelo's win as legit is fine. We get it. We all get it. We know what is going on here. Golovkin has always been the better fighter, the more powerful fighter. Canelo is a very good, tough fighter who can take a punch, but he is not the caliber of GGG. Never will be. Canelo is in the peak years of his career at 28. Golovkin has now twice beaten Canelo at 35 and 36 years of age. That is quite an accomplishment. He is not what he used to be. If he was he would have stopped Canelo both times. But please let's stop with the facade and the rationalization that Alvarez won either fight. He has an overwhelmingly strong Mexican fanbase. He is fighting in his "home town." The judges are clearly biased and probably in no uncertain terms either explicitly or implicitly told how close rounds are to be scored. They are hand-picked. The same guys are brought in to judge all of the big fights by the sanctioning bodies when the money is flowing. They can be counted on. Adelaide Byrd could also be counted on but she wasn't smart enough to know how to properly present the "right" decision. Even the casuals were screaming over her card. Canelo, to his credit, fought hard and took some good shots. He deserves credit for being able to go the distance in both fights. For real fight fans, though, GGG remains the undefeated MW champion of the world. Congratulations, champ, on an outstanding fight and career!
Not at all. I know that every time any eastern euro loses this forum throws a fit like a twelve year old girl who just watched her daddy shoot her pony.
People bring a lot into the equation that doesn't have much to do with anything. I hear a lot people mention Canelo's more comeforward gameplan, or the fact that GGG didn't do what he said he was going to do (i.e knock him out, mind you though Canelo said he would do exactly the same and didn't knock GGG out either), to justify the win going to Canelo. This is complete bull. Boxing isn't about rising above your own personal ceiling, it's not about putting in a more than worthy performance, it's still about BEATING your opponent. Canelo achieved the first two and deserves credit and respect for that, but he didn't achieve the latter, beating his opponent. Just try to imagine seeing this fight without knowing the fighters, their history, styles, nationality or anything about the first fight. Just the rules of boxing, ie. outscoring your opponent. 98% of the people would say GGG won that fight. But people have such high expectations from GGG that winning alone doesn't cut it, he has to win with one hand on his back and knock him out. Yet the other guy won the first fight by getting on his bike and riding it all night long. You know what that's called? Double standards…. GGG won that fight clear as day, and the first one too!
Canelo bossed the fight, won comfortably. GGG fanboys are suffering some kind of mass delusion. Ward-Kovalev levels of butthurt.
I suppose I must be a GGG fan boy as well as a GGGoon lol P thought GGG/Canelo 1 was a blatant robbery So were both Ward/Kovalev decisions. GGG/Can II was a a very close fight with the wrong man getting the decision
It's funny. The same fans had Canelo winning the first fight for running and "outboxing GGG" Now the tables turn and GGG implemented Canelo's gameplan and outboxed Canelo. The same fans still had Canelo winning. It goes to show you it's pure bias.
No we don't. Golovkin lost this fight. Take your worthless tears to Facebook, they're hiring people like you at the moment.
