Credit to these guys on there toughness and great fight... however the big picture: Both of these guys looked exhausted and were huffing and puffing. They did not have the same punch output they normally do. I kept telling myself against the other top middleweights, Jacobs, Charlo, Dervenchenko these guys will have thier hands full. I had GGG winning against Jacobs but I would probably favor Jacobs in a remtach and even possibly Lemueiux because GGG is in no way the same.
I was impressed by their punch resistance. Other than that - not so much. If Loma or Crawford were close to their size, they would school them badly.
Disappointed in the fight, Canelo looked strong and came forward, which was great, but do not have the power to hurt GGG and GGG looked old&tired... not what expected.
If Loma or Crawford were 175 pound fit men they wouldn't be the same fighters or move the way they do at 135 and 140.
Wow, tough crowd. I mean...yeah, why should it be okay for stamina to gradually recede while alternately boxing & brawling for 12 rounds with a fellow elite who is matching your own extremely high level of motivation and preparation? Huffing and puffing, what bums.
What exactly did you expect? These are two somewhat evenly matched(in most aspects) top caliber fighters who went out to destroy each other but couldn't because they both have iron wills and chins. I'm pretty convinced no other current top 10 middleweight would have been able to survive the pace these two have set for 24 rounds. They have given us two highly skilled displays of violent give-and-take and neither fighter has been willing to give quarter. Other than a missing KO, these fights have been very satisfying. The only thing negative thing IMO is the constant whining about the scorecards by some overly biased fans.
I saw two evenly matched very good but not great fighters in the ring.GGG is just about done and Canelo will struggle with any top middleweight and I would give Bud or Spence an excellent chance against him.
Well, I have to disagree. I was impressed by them both. Extremely high quality boxing there in that match. Top notch skills, bot of them. Even punch selection was extremely high quality, something weird nowadays, same for boxing IQ in the fight. I would never say that this fight is not impressive, tbh. Just my opinion, though.
I was more disappointed in GGG. He is not the destroyer that he used to be for sure. That was his fight to win and he just didn't do it, although I though he won. Can't leave it to a decision against Canelo in Vegas and I didn't see him really sell out for the ko.
I didn't see any difference in CANELO this 2nd fight- looked as good as when he was on the peds. Agree? Maybe it's getting too tough to get real accurate results these days?
Lol you can’t make it up can you?I totally get now why Bunce said this was a fight for the discerning boxing fans who understand what they’re watching. Quite frankly if you’re dumb enough to write about em blowing without noticing Canelos brutal body shots or Golovkins metronomic jab and uppercuts then it makes you wonder if they appreciate levels at all. Case in point Lemieux wins by brutal KO and yet is so many levels beneath those two.
That’s because you haven’t got a clue what you were looking at me thinks. Not impressed. This fight had everything, from “chess-match” to fireworks with adjustments, beautiful slips, feints, counters and shifting gears in between, all given to us by two exceptional fighters.
