Does Golovkin need to part ways with Sanchez?

I believe if Golovkin and Canelo have a rubber match Golovkin needs to leave Abel Sanchez.

He needs another perspective on how to fight Canelo, he edged both fights for me but not enough to clearly dominate Canelo.

I think Golovkin has slowed down quite a lot so why does Sanchez insist on him hitting the heavy pad with single hard shots? He needs to be working on his speed at that age.

Who do you believe would give Golovkin the best preparation for a rubber match?

I do also believe these Eastern Europeans make a big mistake when they bin the trainers that made them the fighters they are and replace them with western world trainers. They should stick with what they know and I think that would give them more success.

Well Golovkin was a natural boxer and Sanchez made him more of a destroyer type. It's obvious he can't win on the cards vs Clenelo by boxing him. The custom judges too strong. He needs whoever trained Duran vs Moore or Hagler vs Hearns. Forget the nice moves, he needs to break his ribs for him and punch a hole through that gas tank. IMHO. If he can't stop him, he's not winning.

Good post btw. I agree he needs speed. Power is ok if he can make it stick but Clenelo is a slippery sonnova...

What would Freddie Roach advise him when it comes strategy and approach in the rematch?

Golovkin looked slow, tired and inactive from the first bell. He looked like the shadow of himself.

So unlike the first fight, Canelo did not run out of options or answers, back pedaling in a shell for the second half of the fight. Instead, he got bold and stupid and walked in front of GGG the only place he was able to have some succes. So by some kind of bravado and bad judgment, he made the fight close. Closer than the first fight, but this time there is no robbery.

I don't think Golovkin has the speed anymore to outslug him, he will just get countered like mad coming in. he needs to open up Canelo more somehow and time the perfect shot.

After what he (Sanchez) said after the fight, yes, GGG needs a new trainer. But I think he should retire.

I've just rewatched the fight tbh and though I had Golovkin winning watching the second time around I had him edging it even more clearly. Golovkin is cuter than you think in there and was making Canelo miss just as much as the other way around.

It sounds silly asking for another game plan when I thought he won but he needs to completely shut Canelo down to gain the victory.

Canelo has faded in the mid and late rounds of both fights. You put in body work early and canelo doesnt make it out of the 10th.

He's hard to hit cleanly to the body, Golovkin is a great body puncher and landed about 2 the whole fight. I don't doubt that if Golovkin landed his infamous body shots he could stop Canelo but he just can't find the target.

GGG got in more than 2 body shots. There were also times where he got inside and simply waited when he shouldve unloaded. I agree its easier said than done but he must do it. Canelo has proven that he can take GGGs punch. Youre not going to ko Canelo with a single or even a couple of shots. What he has shown is that he does wear down. GGG needs to help him with that.

GGG just needs a time machine to lose a few years off his age, father time has diminished his all around ability slightly.

The baton has been passed to Canelo, at least for the time being, maybe GGG has the viewpoint expressed jovially by Jack Dempsey "Tell him he can have my title, but I want it back in the morning."

If a 3rd fight occurs it will bring both fighters a massive purse, so there are no real losers in reality
