I actually scored this fight a draw, but totally alright with Canelo getting the nod. Great fight. Canelo was the aggressor for majority of the fight, RING GENERALSHIP!! As a GGG fan I can admit he lost the 2nd fight, but all you Canelo fans can you admit GGG should have edged the 1st fight????
Without a doubt GGG outboxed the boxer in the 2nd fight! I just think Canelo did enough in other areas (particularly from round 2-8) to squeak out a draw.
I'm going to rewatch the fight today, but I did score it a draw. My point was that its a damn shame GGG had to take a L and lose his belts just because Oscar weaseled Golovkin out of a decision win of the 1st fight.
Golovkin won both fights and got jobbed on the cards twice. Both were close fights, the 2nd was closer but Golovkin won.
I had GGG the winner again. I think it was a little closer than last time with just a couple of rounds in it. But either way, it's clear as day that GGG has been completely stitched up over the course of two fights. Six scorecards, only 1 in favour of GGG across two fights. Really? Think about that. Whatever happened to the challenger ripping the title away? This stinks bad.
ggg looked like he got jumped in the county drunk tank, canelo beat 3 shades of chit out of him. give the princess his due, he outmachoed ggg. you can give ggg's nervous little jabs as many points as you want, bottom line, in the wild, canelo just took all his bishes... real talk.
I’m shocked by how convinced folks are with GGG winning I saw an extremely competitive but clear win for Canelo. Make no mistake I can’t be upset with those that felt GGG edged it because at a certain juncture in close fights people tend to lean or favor certain work and attributes and I thought Canelo made GGG uncomfortable and his work was more effective and impactful. Classic MW fight great scrap.
Canelo showed great performance but he didn't perform enough for a win, GGG still was better and that's a prime Canelo with all the support he can get.
It was a great fight! My hats off to both men. GGG showed tons of heart and Canelo just impressed by doing what no fighter has ever done to GGG. Pushed him back, and fought like the stronger man.
1. It doesn't matter what a fighter's face looks like after a fight. 2. It doesn't matter if a fighter fights the way he said he was going to fight... or even if a fighter fights the was he was expected to fight. People bring this up way too much. The puncher was boxing, the boxer was punching... who cares? 3. Fights are scored on a round to round basis... not on an accumulative effect. 4. Judges can't see punch stats. 5. Golovkin's cut occurred in the final round after they clashed heads, then they touched gloves. He was banged up under/around the eyes though. 6. Canelo had a worse cut and it was caused by a legal punch and made worse by more legal punches. 7. A powerpunch is anything other than a jab and not every powerpunch is powerful. 8. Golovkin has a stiff jab and it needs to count. Both fights were close but Golovkin has outlanded Canelo in almost every round, they have fought against each other. Overall he has outlanded him by by 81 punches. Canelo landed 4 more "power" punches (some of those were shoe shine hooks that were not as stiff as a Golovkin jab) but Golovkin landed 53 more jabs. In the rematch Canelo landed 27 more powerpunches but Golovkin landed 59 more jabs... that means Golovkin has landed 112 more jabs. Jabs count, these aren't range finders coming from Golovkin, it's not Golovkin "just making contact", these are real punches. Some of you need to quit thinking a powerpunch means it always has power on it. I had it 116-112 for Golovkin and so did Harold Lederman who was a great boxing judge.
