No, not off the Klitchko fight. The truth is Joshua and Wilder are still a little unproven, especially Wilder.
Witherspoon had 2 defeats in his first 20 lol. He never even defended a World title in the period. Name me a HW who unified in his 20 fights. You severely underrate him. Of the current generation, Wilder has the 3rd best resume.
Who he beat? - Dillian Whyte - The Gypsy King's actual beech Did he look good against either man? - No - **** No Add in the fact he fought like a frightened little **** against Parker and you see AJ is just a large man with a BS record and basic AF skills. Wouldn't shock me if past-prime post-roids Povetkin gives him trouble.
I don't think he is overrated. He knocked out Klitschko - who still looked to box well in the fight (which was an indication he didn't KO a shot Wlad). But I do feel there is still a reasonable amount of improvement in Joshua. I never consider him truly great because I still believe he can improve a lot.
Under, definitely. Like Lennox Lewis was when he was active. Lots of haters. I don't get it personally. Sometimes I wonder what people actually want from boxing. People on here have ridiculous expectations. Given his age and number of fights (people also forget he only had 40 or so amateur fights), he's made incredible progress in a very short space of time. Anyone who likes the guy gets shouted down as a fanboy or bumboy or some other childish crap. I'm not a big fan of his personality though and agree he does come across as fake/self editing. Some of the Sky coverage is a bit nauseating, but hardly his fault. The Povetkin fight is a bit of a crossroads fight for him I'd say. More in terms of styles than anything. If he boxes to another 12 round decision, you could see a lot of people lose interest. In the heavyweight division, people want to see knockouts. If he KOs Sacha, the hype will probably go into overdrive, which will only attract more haters and people wanting to denigrate his accomplishments.
He's a fighter that fans seem to do one or the other and no in between. I feel, regardless of politics he's the man at HW. He has his flaws, but he has solid all round skills, decent power and is quite tough. One of the areas where he gets criticized too much is his chin. A chinny fighter would have been KO'd by Wlad in round 5, he was blowing out of his arse, making him theoretically easier to KO and he took flush Wlad shots well considering. I feel AJ, has a better chin than Wilder and Fury, though again not uncrackable.
being unified champ is a slight exaggeration, seeing as he got one vacant beating up a 43 year old, and one from a guy who obviously dived in round 1. However he beat the limited but game and prime Parker for another one fair and square, so hes unified to some degree without fault. Just hes not some kind of near undisputed monster beating a series of elites.
I like this post & atm it's right 100% if AJ is overrated then Wilder well behind on who he has faced.
I've one question Why did Wilder not fight Joseph Parker if he is that bad?he could have picked up another belt. Also just as a add Wilder could have faced Wlad a long time back.
yes but when u are unified by dint of a chap who jumped on the flor in round1 grinning, and a 43 yr old man with no actual title, its hardly a fact to write home about. however the parker win legits that claim or me.
All he can do is beat the guys in front of him. He's done that quicker and better than anyone else in the division. He's facing the number 3 rated guy in the division for the second fight in succession. By all means pick holes in his record but in which case you would have to consider the gaping holes in any of his alleged rivals resumes also.
It's difficult to judge him. Who is the best boxer he has fought, close to their prime? Whyte? Who went life and death with a past his best Chisora, many saying Chisora won that fight. A better version of Chisora was ko by David Haye, who gets labelled a decent but not great heavyweight. Best name is a 41 year old Vladimir, who had been inactive for 18 months, and comfortably beaten in his previous fight. Joshua went life and death with him. It's a shame that Fury fell off, and AJ team have ducked Wilder, because they're the only guys in their prime who are better than British/European level.
