"Promotion for the fight between WBC world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury will begin in London on Monday, says Frank Warren.

The fight still has no confirmed date or venue, but promoter Warren also said the west coast of the United States 'was the favourite at the moment'."

What will they talk about? And is this a first, promoting an event which has no venue or date?

It will be announced this week. Then you’ll have your date and venue.

Microwave society, gotta have that popcorn before it pops lol.

Does AJ have a fight coming up? Haven’t seen any promotion for it ...

I don't know what's going on. Twice they've said it will be announced next week and nothing. My prediction is that it's not happening this year but having in on the West coast sounds good if they do.

Apparently Barclays is making a $ run at it and trying to upset the apple cart, as originally the fight was set for Vegas.

But I agree it's odd to have a promotional tour with no fight. "We can't tell you when or where we're gonna fight, but you definitely need to watch it!"

Oh, if I was Warren/Haymon, I’d rent a ballroom right across the street from the AJ weigh-in and have the announcement start an hour before with Tyson and Wilder and Justin Freaking Beiber there to do the announcing. With Taylor Swift.

They are guna do all this stuff and time everything to try to roll over and belittle Joshua and his fight. And at the end of it Joshua is going to have a massive night in a massive arena and make massive money regardless on when Warren and Finkel and Fury and Wilder decide to play their cards. But let them play their games, these guys are supposed to be adults yet they are just acting like kids.

Cant believe they are promoting a fight with no date or venue when it was the worst thing in the world when Hearn hadnt provided a date or venue on paper. Wilder is number 2, Joshua is number 1 and nothing is guna change that. Cant believe Wilder is getting a rematch clause incase he loses. To be honest im struggling to believe the fight ever happens.

I don't think anyone within the industry will be really upset, it's just some point scoring to keep the pantomime going. Like you say it will benefit Joshua in the medium and longer term because to hit the big numbers he needs opponents with some following of their own. If Wilder Fury captures the imagination of US fight fans and makes HW boxing more relevant again then Joshua benefits too and Wilder or Fury would deserve a greater share of any pie because there'd be more pie for everyone.

Maybe it will be like an old school rave. No time or location posted publicly ANYWHERE. Everyone will get a phone number to call and they'll drive on the night to Burtonwood services on the M62 to find Fury and Wilder in a disused airfield hangar with Frank Warren checking tickets and selling glowsticks at the door?

Well yes he does, it's next weekend.... at Wembley and then on April 13, at the same venue.

But my question was a genuine one as I can't recall a promotional tour for a fight with no date or venue. Now you may well be right and those details will be announced on Monday but the way Warren was talking suggests those key details have not been finalised:

"It's been about deciding what venue it will go to - it's not an issue because it's a nice problem, it's who is going to put up the most money. You get the usual things with judges, depending on where it is going to take place. If you go to Las Vegas they want to appoint all the officials - we don't particularly want that. We want the officials agreed between the two parties, and they should be as neutral as possible. That is one of the things we have been working on."

To me, that reads like nothing has been settled, apart from the first part of the quote which is ambiguous and could be interpreted as suggesting a deal has been struck. The rest kind of implies things are more up in the air and they've left their microwave meal in the oven for a month when we were told it would ping in a week. Damn microwave society.

But time is of the essence: November is getting close and Mayweather and Canelo are hovering over December dates.
