That’s what i’d run with but i’d have Okolie to knock Askin’s spark out. I like Askin but he’s domestic level (not knocking that btw) and Okolie is definitely going further than that. I don’t think he’s great but he’s got a real (heavyweight) dig on him. He will end up as a heavyweight in a couple of years when he fills out.
Can’t argue with that. He’s not superb but that power is an equaliser. I just think Askin is the toughest he’s fought so I wouldn’t be surprised if it went the distance this time.
I will take your word for it as I haven't watched much of Kuzman but I think he falls into the Jarrell Miller/Kowalski(??) category. Guys who belong in the top 20, maybe even top 15 but they arent really contenders as they don't put in the necessary effort. Say what you like about Wilder but he always looks in shape. Guys like Kuzman, Miller, etc are a disgrace to 90's boxers. None of the contenders in that era looked as out of shape as these guys. Also, none of the champions, even the ones with very short reigns, looked like this.
Really hope so! He's 7/2 tonight surely that's too big? Ive had a dabble on him. I've never seen kuzming to be fair but sounds like a 50/50?
I honestly think this is a 50/50. Price for the first time in years looks like he doesn't care a fig what others think of him instead of that deer in the sights look he normally has. Also, Price might be a big stiff but he does have a very big equalizer in his right hand.
Yeah by the sounds of it it's just a shoot out to whoever lands clean first, which makes it 50/50. 7/2 seems too big. Put Price to win and Joshua on pts at 18/1.With a saver on Price/ Joshua tko at 6/1
Yeah, these lads like Kownacki, Ruiz Jn, Kuzman don’t exactly look the part but they can’t half box. I used to think Whyte was the same but he’s toned up somewhat. I don’t think imo it’s absolutely necessary for heavyweights to be built like adonis’s. They’re big lads already and the more muscle they carry, the more oxygen they need to fuel them. Wilder is stick thin but he has fluidity with his movement whereas some of the other lads like AJ can seem a bit ‘tight’. Each to their own I guess. It’s fun watching them.
Tyson fury being another prime example. Boxing for 12 rounds on the back foot requires incredible amounts of stamina. The more muscle bound lads seem to struggle with that pace.
Why do people always get conned into thinking shape matters? Have you seen clips of Kuzmin? He’s more athletic than Price. Gorman looks worse than Kuzmin physically yet he’s one of the fastest HWs around. Price always looks in visibly good shape but always exhausts himself in the ring. Price is getting battered.
I understand what you guys are saying and I am not implying that I want my boxers to look like body builders, however, no heavyweight should be carrying an extra 20+ pounds just because they can. Fury in top condition is not a fat guy, these other guys like Kuzman and Miller are. Just look at Povetkin at the weigh-in for this fight. He might not have brilliant muscle definition but there is no doubt that he is in superb shape. Same with Whyte, while I thought he came in heavy for the Parker fight, the does not have loose fat on his body, everything is solid. Same with Parker.
Fair point. I wonder if these lads also think that 20ib of timber adds durability and more weight in their shots.
