Who are your favorite fighters campaigning at 175 through history?

My own would probably be Matthew Saad Muhammad, followed by Michael Spinks.

Saad had a certain regal quality to him, despite his blood and guts style. Or maybe because of it. He flourished in gambling everything and turning every bout into a test of fortitude. I loved his outlook in that way.

Spinks I like because he seemed the opposite of that in many ways, but still managed to stand out by insisting on doing things his own way. Ungainly, awkward, sometimes seeming downright reluctant, he nonetheless cleaned out the division after Saad went out on his sword at the hands of Qawi. He may not have allowed the game to swallow him whole the way Saad did, but his legacy is no less secure. He just did it a different way.

Do you think Muhammad and Spinks were at the same level? I feel Spinks had far less flaws overall as a fighter.

Saad Muhammad all the way for me. Great guy, excellent fighter with a great story and a genuine contender for the most entertaining fighter caught on film.

In my lifetime it would be Dennis Andries who achieved a good deal with minimal boxing skills and Glen Johnson the road warrior.

From a historical point of wanting to know more about them are Bob Fitzsimmons, Paul Berlanbach, Lou Brouillard, Gus Lesnevich, Bob Olin and John Henry Lewis.

    Favourite is Andries

I`ve only seen light heavy fights involving Hearns, Hill, Andries, Jones, Tarver, G.Johnson, Hopkins and Calzaghe. Out of those I liked Calzaghe the best and I think he would have given Spinks a better fight than Muhammad.

Personally my favorites are Gene Tunney and Ezzard Charles. While I do enjoy a knockout artist, they were both good, humble boxers who had incredible accomplishments in the ring

Spinks was tougher to beat, I'd say that. More risk-averse and more adaptable. That probably translates into "greater" I suppose.

    Nothing humble about Tunney.

He said multiple times that Dempsey would've flattened him if he had not stayed away from him. I also like his training ethic, how he'd go up North and chop trees to condition his hands and wrists to better handle power punches

Bob Foster and Billy Conn. Two polar opposites, Conn being the masterful boxer, Foster the super hard punching ko artist.

Funny thing is i don't necessarily rank them in the top 3. Charles, Langford and Moore are my top 3. Spinks, Tunney, Conn and Foster are next.

Still, i would love to have the left hook of a Foster or be able to outbox Joe Louis for 12 rounds.
