I've been debating with myself on this one, I've narrowed it down to 2 wins pre-lastarza that could be considered his best.

    Carmine Vingo:
6'4" 190lbs 16-1 (although some sources list him as 16-0)

    Vingo's best wins:
    6-0 193lbs Barney Metten KO 2nd round
    17-4 191lbs Don Mogard PTS 6th round
    16-2 182lbs Joe Modzele PTS 6th round

    The fight:

Vingo and Marciano had a war in which Vingo was knocked down in the 1st, 2nd and 6th rounds. The 6th round was the famous KO in which Vingo was put into a coma, given a 50/50 chance to live, and was paralyzed for life. Extremely good win for Marciano

    Eddie Ross:
    175lbs 15-0

    Ross's best wins:
Wilfie Shanks 41-20 KO 5th round

Not nearly as impressive of a record as Vingo, but consider:

Marciano was 4-0 in this fight, with much less experience

Marciano had never been trained by Charlie Goldman, still self trained at his local YMCA

Marciano was the heavy underdog in this fight, in fact this fight was a ploy to spite Al Weill by the owner of the arena in Providence, Rhode Island.

Marciano knocked him out in the first minute of the first round with a brutal right that sent his mouth guard flying

So which is the better, more dominant win?

Vingo catapulted his career. But they were def setting Rocky up to fail in his first several fights. Al and Goldman didn’t even assist him or take him seriously for his first few fights. I believe they took notice after the Ross fight.

Weill was """officially""" his manager after the Quinn fight but Marciano wasn't trained by Goldman

Speaking of Bobby Quinn, I was thinking of making a 3rd option for him but I don't think it was as impressive of a win

    Marciano floored Muscato nine times
1949-12-19 : Rocky Marciano 183 lbs beat Phil Muscato 180 lbs by TKO at 1:15 in round 5 of 10
    • Location: Rhode Island Auditorium, Providence, Rhode Island, USA
    • Referee: Sharkey Buonanno
Marciano gave a terrific display of punching power, yet Muscato fought back almost to the end, landed many hard punches, and was dangerous into the fourth round. Marciano staggered Muscato in the first round and dropped him twice, for an 8-count and a 9-count, in round two. Phil suffered two knockdowns in the third and dropped from sheer exhaustion at the end of the round. Marciano scored three more knockdowns in the fourth, and Phil was down again in the fifth. After the last knockdown, he was more wobbly than ever and the referee stopped it. Muscato received a great round of applause for his courage. The attendance was 8,775 and the gross gate was $12,911.

Muscato was a very experienced fighter

Muscato wasn't as impressive of a name as Ross and Vingo imo, nor as dominant of a win, that's why i didn't put him up there

    I rounded up
