Ortiz would wreck Povetkin and between the two, improved since turning pro from his amateur days whereas I don't think Povetkin ever got any better. Ortiz is also bigger, stronger, more powerful, all around just a better package physically.
Not so sure.... Povetkin style wise poses a tougher match to Joshua... Ortiz is a southpaw and that makes fights easier for Joshua. Povetkin tonight vs Ortiz ? tough call but a different fight. Still have to think Ortiz on paper is the tougher guy but Povetkin really trained his butt ( will I get banned for that...smh ) off for this fight so? 50/50 IF Povetkin showed me something...and I said this before the fight bc tonight povetkin really showed how good he is but he had an all star cast as sparring partners.
Pov would knock him out. Pov has had 166 fights amateur and pro and only lost 9 times. And all 7 of his amateur defeats were avenged so that means in all the time he's been boxing only 2 men have beaten him that he hasn't avenged his loses to and in both instances they were way bigger than him and held huge almost unfair physical advantages over him. Pov vs Wlad 6'2'' vs 6'6'' 225¾lbs vs 241¾ 75'' reach vs 81'' Pov vs AJ 6'2'' vs 6'6'' 222lbs vs 245¼lbs 75'' reach vs 82'' And Wlad was allowed to get away with blue murder against him, Octopussing him half to death and using his size, strength, and weight to rag-doll him. And even though he was 39 years old and past his prime against AJ and had all those huge physical disadvantages to contend with and overcome, and was facing AJ in his backyard in front of an extremely partisan AJ home crowd of 80,000 plus, he put up a hell of a fight and gave AJ everything he could handle and some. I along with many others had him ahead on the scorecards at the time of the stoppage. And in both instances he was facing the #1 three-belt unified champions of the world, one of whom is one of the greats and dominated the HW for a decade. They, like he was, are both Olympic gold medalists too. Alexander Pov vs Luis Ortiz in the amateurs Pov couldn't miss with his right hand as soon as it dawned on him that Ortiz had zero defence to it, and he dropped him (ref chose not to count it) and stopped him on the outscored rule This content is protected Serge kills it with pure science /close thread. If you compare the 2 and their careers, both amateur and professional, what they have achieved and who they have fought then Povetkin makes Ortiz look like Charlie Z (who funnily enough is one of Wilder's best wins)
Maybe. It's a fight I'd sure love to see. They should match em' on the undercard of the Joshua vs Wlider/Fury fight.
What I personally like about Pov is that he has not taken one soft fight in years even though he has had some periods of inactivity. A run of Joshua, Price, Hammer, Rudenko, Duhaupas, Wach, Perez, Takam, Charr, Klitschko. None of those are Ivica Bacurin/Daniel Martz level cans what Ortiz and Whyte have recently fought.
