His hand was pulled through the ropes when he was on the ground. That's why he almost fell through. And he still beat that count.
Neither canelo , nor juiceshua will ever be good at age of 35. Btw wlad and povetkin were both shot when they fought joshua. GGG if not shot is past prime.
I like this post a lot. Povetkin deserves to go out on a high note. I followed both Povetkin and Ortiz from the start of their pro careers, and Povetkin from mid-way in his amateur days. And Povetkin was a truly great super-heavyweight amateur. He's a boxer who has earned the right to be respected. A win over Povetkin is a meaningful name to have on any win list (even if it's a past prime Povetkin) ... and it's now something Joshua has on his and Wilder doesn't.
AJ fanboy Logic. Wlad 41, Povetkin 39. How dare you call them old!!!! These are top tier wins! Ortiz wasn't really 38, he was 59! Wilder deserves zero credit. Bull**** win! You're all full of it. This has nothing to do with your thread by the way @drenlou, I just felt like ranting.
Winning the first three rounds doesn't mean you've won the narrative of the fight. It just means you got off to a good start, which wasn't terribly surprising given that Povetkin is pretty skilled and AJ takes his time to figure out opponents these days. It's a good win for AJ. Then again, I think Ortiz was a good win for Wilder. Can't wait for them to fight (even if Fury beats Wilder in December).
imo it was a good performance from joshua . looks like i am way in the minority on this particular thread the american commentry team must have called the fight different to how i saw it i watched it with russian commentry so just looked at what was happening in the ring without understanding what they were saying. povetkin showed good handspeed / very good upperbody movement / a good will to win / good stamina AJ in this fight showed good adapdabilty /decent chin/ good jab/that he can switch up his style /better stamina /good handspeed and timing. but the biggest improvement AJ made in this fight IMO was good feet. he used subtle feet movement to switch angles / made povetkin not be able to get set for his lead left hook and basically took povetkins best punch away from him after round 2. what did come left hooks from povetkin AJ caught them on his high guard right hand which he threw sparingly or he just moved his feet and they fell short AJ fought loose / his left hand jab much lower than normal and he caught povtkin with it full in the face making him reset and not be able to get inside. it was subtle yet good improvements of how to box an aggressive left hooker and he did it relaxed which is why his stamina improved. AJ landed 2 to 1 on povetkin in nearly every round bar the opening round and closed the show with pinpoint combos when he let his hands go in close. yes he did get hit / but povetkin was trying to get in his face all night / thats povetkin style / and no joshua does not have good head movement / overall though i thought joshua in this fight showed something new with his looser more mobile style / and it made him harder to beat not easier. he does not hit as hard as wilder and he does not have furys natural boxing abilty / but he is a mix of th 2 and that will be hard to beat IMO.
