Prime Ruddock vs the Marciano who beat Louis and the Frazier who beat Ali. Is Ruddock too big, strong and hard hitting or does this tree get chopped down by the smaller men?

I like Ruddock and think he was top notch during his era among the contenders and lesser belt holders. I think he would be similar in and against other eras. He would be a live dog against both with a better chance of stopping Frazier (hard to believe a philly guy saying that) than Rocky.

However I think both guys would best him and be consensus betting favorites...he could win I just don’t find it the likely scenario

He'd get mowed down by both after putting up a solid effort.

I wonder how they'd cope with his punching power since they'd be coming forward to him. And Ruddock had punching power similar to Foreman's.

Plus he went the distance with Tyson in their second fight.

It's hard to say. The razor hit pretty hard, and went toe-to-toe with Tyson. Then again, he was stopped by Dave Jaco, claiming and asthma attack. He was also stopped by Tommy Morrison, who struggled with guys like Ross Purity and Joe Hipp.

I would like to think that the ATGs would pull it out, but Ruddock was just so big and inconsistent. You watch one fight and you think he is the very best never to get a title. You watch another and you see a complete bum.

I would say flip a coin.

I think the bottom line is that he just wouldn't be busy enough.

Anything could happen with the Razor in the ring. He could lay men out cold or be caught out himself .
I give him a decent chance against either man .If he can get in early and hurt Joe in the first mins ,shake him up as Foreman did ,then keep plowing in ,then that's his Best shot. Same apply s to Rock. As he comes in ,getting caught by Jersey and Archie ,then can't see why a bigger ,hard punching guy like Ruddock could do the same ,and maybe hurt him again and keep hurting him .He's certainly got the power in his fists .

That would be power in his fist, not fists. His right hand was pretty much useless when he bothered to throw it. Which was not often. When he did, he went off balance and would have to re-set everything to throw a left hook. Lots of time to do that and that's why the minimal right hands from the guy. Would have been better if he could have worked on his balance so he could throw combinations instead of single shots.

Ruddock hit harder than Moore and Walcott, but they were better fighters than the Razor. Ruddock would need to press his advantage.

Peak frayier can win a decision, probably wont stop him because if he throws his hook often and recklessly enough to try to stop razor he takes razors hook himself and he would find himself on the canvas.
Then again frazier would duck right into razors uppercut. Ruddock literally has more natural talent in almost every are there is from power to athleticism, reflexes explosiveness, size. Pretty much the "perfect heavyweight body"
Frazier has grit, workrate and class.

Marciano is just too small and slow to pull it off. Tyson had the speed to land and the chin to take whatever he has to on the way in.
Different eras, Marciano is p4p obviously a much greater fighter but given the styles he has almost no chance because he would have to take twice as much artillary as even tyson had to coming in just to land a couple of shpts and then razor could just tie him up or use his legs and force marciano to have to take shots on the way in again.

That's true, they were much more skillful. But Ruddock did have the ability to punch like a mule, given a opening against either man and there going to get hurt. Then as u say ,he has to steam in and go on the attack .

I think neither could hold the smash Fergy, they might look beautiful leading up to it with their skills, but he hurt bigger stronger men than both didn't he. Connecting flush, I don't think he needs much follow up..The more I think i'm wincing at the little guys taking this fight. He's pretty much tough enough to take the power coming back his way.
