George Groves vs Callum Smith this friday

i am backing Smiffy since 2G gets battered by hard northerners usually, but this northerner isnt all that, so i think the G takes it.

Still not gonna call him Saint George though, stupid name. Like King Khan and Prince Naz.

 

CW tournament was 1000 times better and more entertaining, more quality, more skills. SMW is weak division.

 

I've always said Groves would win this match up, but I don't say it with the greatest of conviction. The shoulder injury is at the back of my mind.

Yes for me too. Groves should win. He's been the better guy in the past. Two provisos, the shoulder injury, how complete is his recovery? Also, there's just a hint of weariness about George. He's been in several wars and I think he's seeing the end of the road now. Maybe if Smith can take him into the later rounds the miles on the clock may catch up with him.

That's a very valid point and could be a factor. Boxers always say after shoulder injury: 'it's as strong as ever'.

It rarely is...

 

The odd thing about Groves considering he's a highly trained athlete is, for the past few years at least, he always looks unhealthy. He's easily good enough to win this but he peaked in the 1st Froch fight and has slowly declined ever since...

 

If the injury is behind him, then Groves boxed smith to a comfortable UD.

 

What a fine fighter GG turned out to be. I think or feel with the right mentality the torch would've been passed when him and Froch fought..Still think he should've won that, or had the skills too

 

True. Maybe he doesnt get the balance right in camp, because he's an excellent boxer.

Yes. Although Smith isn't like Eubank JR with obvious flaws to be exploited. He should give Groves a proper test.
