I thought about adding him, I definitely wouldn't rule it out. If he catches you the right way, I think it could do equal to slightly more damage than a Hughie shot.

Usyk isn't just some cruiser, though. He isn't even just "a very good cruiser". He's arguably the division's GOAT.

I agree, I am a huge a fan of Usyk... I love the guy. He looks cool, he has this offbeat madman edge about him... I wish he was my brother kind of thing.

But he aint beating Joshua.. I gotta be pragmatic.

He is GOAT no doubt. Massive respect.

I watched Usyk vs Joyce tonight. He didn't seem too feather fisted in that fight and Joyce certainly couldn't walk through him.

Gassiev was an undefeated (26-0) two-belt unified world champion and he had never been dropped before, let alone stopped.

He also beats up world level HWs in the gym and breaks their ribs.

“The power he has shown me in the gym sparring against [heavyweights Dominic] Breazeale, Charles Martin, Gerald Washington, Chris Arreola, is very real,” Sanchez said. “All those guys, he’s been able to dominate and hurt. Once we get him to the heavyweight division and stabilize him at 225, 230, and put some muscle on those pounds, he’ll be very effective.''

    -- Abel Sanchez

Which HW's ribs did Gassiev break in sparring?

''Ask any given sparring partner who’s been in there with him and they will tell you he’s a small heavyweight who fights like a big heavyweight.

“Murat Gassiev – that motherbeeeper hits hard,” heavyweight contender Chris Arreola said of his experience while training with the Russian banger in Big Bear, California.

The two worked in the same gym space for their recent training camps. Arreola was preparing for his December 12 showdown with Travis Kauffman, a fight he won by split decision. The final outcome was disputed, but Arreola’s energy at fight’s end was attributed to the work he put in during his time in Big Bear, also crediting Gassiev as one of the fighters who pushed him in the gym.

“He caught me in the ribs during one sparring session, I just never been hit like that before,” Arreola admitted. “This was a camp I was already determined to leave as a trim and ready fighter, but I knew I couldn’t half-ass it when he was there. Whenever I saw him in the gym when I arrived, I was like “Beep, not that guy again.” But he makes you work in the gym, he makes you a better fighter.”

'Here is another endorsement. World-class cruiserweight Ola Afolabi proclaimed that Gassiev is a certified assassin. “Probably the hardest puncher I’ve ever been in with,” said Afolabi, a pro since 2002 and a three-time cruiserweight title challenger ranked No. 10 by THE RING.'

Briedis was a undefeated world champion (23-0) and AFAIA has never been dropped, let alone stopped. And he is tough enough and good enough to have given Wlad good work in sparring

Remember what Chef (a member of Team Klitschko) had to say about Briedis

    ''GREAT KO,
Like I said in the other thread. This win couldn't have happened to a nicer, harder working guy in boxing. We had Mairis in 6-8 Klitschko camps. Always worked hard and was always just trying to "show his skill"on a bigger stage. Maybe this will help. Maybe he can finally quit being a cop in Latvia.

Im happy for him, his wife and his 2 boys. GREAT JOB MY FRIEND!

I knew Mairis was a danger and would win. Bad choice for Charr . Mairis can bang!

    no
but he was great at movement. You have to stay focused with Mairis at all times.

Mairis is really a quality guy. In the years I have know him, its been about just getting a chance on bigger stages. Maybe this will help him. Good quality boxer that just needs the proper stage to show it to the fans.

    So happy for him

Mairis is a tough dude. Had him at least 6-8 times in Wlad and Vitalis camps. Always gives top work

Mairis can box that way is all day long, but dont be fooled, the boy has some power. Seen it first hand

I DID... but I know what Mairis was capable of from many many times in Klitschko camps.

    James Ali Bashir on Briedis

Said Briedis sparred Wlad numerous times and was never hurt by him, which he says is very rare for anyone who has sparred more than 30 rounds with Wlad.

Go ask Donkey how he felt after he'd been bounced up and down off the canvas numerous times and badly hurt by Wlad when they sparred each other

    And Wlad

    [/QUOTE]

Michael Hunter was undefeated (12-0) and a top amateur who campaigned up at SHW for many years, including sharing a ring with Roberto Cammarelle, Tyson Fury, Andy Ruiz Jr, Islam Timurziev (a massive puncher), Beterbiev, Oscar Rivas, Robert Alfonso, Cam Awesome and wasn't stopped by any of them despite some of them being massive punchers or behemoths that were much naturally bigger and heavier than him. Hunter is also, like Briedis and Afolabi, a former sparring partner of the Klitschko brothers back when they were still in the primes.

Marco Huck was a former long-reigning world champion (40-4-1) had only ever been stopped x 2 prior to facing Usyk, once early in his career in the final round when he was absolutely exhausted (didn't go down though) and the other by the very hard punching Glowacki, again it was in the championship rounds (round 11). That was the first time Huck had been off his feet in his career.

And Glowacki was an undefeated WBO (26-0) champion who had AFAIA had only been dropped once as a pro at the time, from a huge shot by Huck who has very heavy hands.

And Usyk beat them all in their backyards. Usyk isn't a KO artist but he can punch a little bit when he wants to and all those SHW behemoths he fought in the WSB many of whom were elite amateurs and highly decorated at the highest level and much bigger and heavier than him certainly seemed to respect his power.

Neither is Povetkin feather fisted and Joshua took some of his best shots on the chin. I'm not really a fan of AJ (and was rooting for Povetkin) but if you think Usyk hits harder than Povetkin, then I think you are letting your bias against Joshua hinder you from thinking logically. No, Usyk is not as feather fisted as we are led to believe but except for an incredibly lucky punch, he is not going to be the first man to stop Joshua, who has now more or less proven that he's nowhere near as chinny as his detractors believe, (which is not to say that he isn't flawed, only that his chin is not his most visible flaw.) Joshua can be out-boxed and herein is Usyk's best shot of beating him. Usyk will use his lateral movement to avoid getting hit and will employ his speed and ring IQ to tag Joshua up all night from the outside (and I would put money on Usyk to do this only because I know he isn't stupid enough to stand and trade shots with Joshua, otherwise he will get manhandled.)

He's a featherfist in terms of not having the necessary power to pose a real threat to AJ. He hits reasonably hard, yes, but is no Mike Tyson or even Sasha Povetkin. And he needs to be in order to make up for the huge physical disadvantages he would have against AJ, so he may as well be a featherfist. AJ was hurt by Povetkin, and feared Parker's power enough that he was cautious. He can walk right through Usyk, and Usyk simply does not have the power to keep AJ honest. You can say he can out box aj, but he just doesn't have the length to catch AJ much more than AJ catches him. So the best he can hope for is to get on his bike for 12 rounds and make the final bell, shades of the Parker fight. But since the Parker fight showed AJ will get all the debatable rounds, and since aj will be the aggressor and landing the more impactful blows, I see no way AJ doesn't get a decision nod. And chances are, he gets the stoppage.

Lol @ Any man that stands and trades with Joshua is going home in a stretcher.
Joshua is far from being iron chinned , nor he is a monster puncher you make him be . I think wilder would prob come out on top if they traded. Numerous HW from past generations were bigger punchers with better chins. Also If parker was able to go the distance with a robot , I give Usyk very good chance to go the distance too.

If i were Joshua id be taking it as a compliment, this is what happens when you hit the big time, only yesterday there was some idiot claiming Joshuas resume is weak and that its a disgrace it took 22 fights for Joshua to take on Povetkin he should of took him on much earlier in his career. Others claim Wlad washed up, Povetkin washed up, Ortiz prime fighter. No point arguing with the crazy haters on here they have their agenda and will twist their views to suit. Joshua is not a perfect champion but he isnt a paper one. The division already has one of them and when you refuse to fight Wlad, refuse to fight Povetkin, refuse to fight Parker, refuse to fight Whyte and refuse to fight Joshua that person is the one who needs to be labelled a paper champion.

Because you are in love with a man on TV doesn't make me jealous. AJ is a paper champion. He got his first belt by beating Charles Martin a bum. Unless you are saying Martin isn't a bum. Then his 2 biggest wins in his career came against washed up old men. Are we praising people for being senior citizens? Your boyfriend Anthony Joshua isn't good and it is time for you to accept it.
