Like I said, canelo was already a multi millionaire in 2013. He was not a hungry fighter. Of course he wanted that win, but if he lost.....look what happened. His career is still doing great. He had a safety net.

Thurman was the tougher fight. Prime, focused and hungry. Also he was the least lucrative. So of course Mayweather did not fight the mandatory.

You keep justifying Mayweathers fights from a business perspective. And I get it. That how he ran his career.

"Young and hungry," though? Who and when? Pac and Oscar did the same that Floyd did and the same that most supreme superstars in boxing do at the top; fight established veterans, as they are proven and have the larger fan base because of so. It's the right thing to do. They are usually always the higher ranked opponent and better match at the time... Of course there are levels to opposition. No fighter has ever faced the #1 possible opponent more than a couple times in their career tops.

So you think Floyd should have been fighting young Sadam Ali's and Jeff Horn's and Adrien Broner's in his last half decade active or what?

Pac fought a no name accountant named JMM in 2004. At that time, a young and hungry ATG in his prime.

Now I dont want to derail the thread, but since you brought it up. That is by far the most badass title defense of either mans career. Nothing else even comes close.

Porter, Brook, Spence, Williams, Maragarito. From a sport perspective yes. From a business perspective no.

I'm not even a floyd hater. Its just questionable. His resume has names on it, but you have to look at when he fought them (just like canelo). You're out of your mind if you think floyd would have an easy night against paul williams.

    They were clamoring
to fight him the little diva didn't want to know. His motto was
Only in Vegas against cherry picks against which I have every advantage so I cannot possibly lose

Ironically, Pac also fought Jeff Horn at a ripe 39 yrs old, or was it 38 ah whatever same difference.

Mayweather's career was smoke and mirrors for the most part.

What you gents fail to realize is that Floyd had a game plan in the ring and out of the ring. He wasn't a knuckle head like some people are used too. Every fight he fought was a step up, not backwards and he didn't care who was in that step up spot. It could have been King Kong and Floyd would've out boxed and embarrassed him. He knew what he wanted and everybody bears witness to the fact that he achieved it. 49/0. I don't count the Mc Gregor fight.

I think you can criticise Mayweather to a certain extent eg Pac, Cotto and Mosely fights happend much later than they should of. Whilst Ortiz, Berto and Guerrero were cherry picked opponents and there was far better opposition out there.
