Call it now, fight will be called off for some bs reason.

Why hold it in LA, neither fighter is from there or has much if any backing there. Also the time difference for the UK will be worse.
Fury is on BT sport, it ain't sky, his not doing a million ppv's.
Is it on ppv in america? I can't see it selling 100k unless they turn the pantomime antics up to 10.
IMO they would be very lucky to split 10 million between them.
This fight only happens if both camps are somehow conviced its a foregone conclusion and they think its an easy fight.
These guys wont risk a 15 million plus payday for nothing.
I may be wrong but that's my gut feeling.

What does everyone else think? Anyone else find it unusual?

Because a win should set up a massive fight against AJ, who would find it very difficult to turn down no matter how much he wouldn't wish to fight them?

    That's a good reason

They goto California because no one in Vegas ever heard about Wilder nor Fury.

yup, i agree. they've gone through all the trouble of arranging a contract between two eccentric figures, who both think they deserve the lion share, booked arenas, announced the fight, and set up a world tour just for the banter of it

Well this is a big gamble from Finkel and Wilder, they have gambled on 2 things. 1, this fight hits great numbers on Wilders 1st PPV and 2, Fury is still as bad as he looked in his last 2 comeback fights.

This whole thing is about trying to close the financial gap to Anthony Joshua, raising Wilders profile for when they do end up negotiating, this and the Ortiz fight are a big scramble to get him known and get some recognizable names on his resume.

If anything isnt looking good in the build up to the Fury fight there is many ways to pull the plug, And Fury himself knows exactly where the plug is too hes pulled a few in his time. He doesnt want to lose to Wilder, he knows what their game is and him and Warren are happy to play along if it makes Hearn and Joshua look bad but he isnt going to play along once they get in the ring, he is there to win, last thing he needs is to lose so if he is feeling at any time he has jumped the gun and feels maybe he isnt ready he will pull the plug.

Whether this fight happens or not has been on a real knife edge ever since the moment it was 1st unofficially announced.

Might be the only big fight town/big arena with the date they are looking at available. Vegas is out if Mayweather vs Pacquiao is a real thing. I don't know, part of me still believes the whole thing was a work from Warren & Finkel to take the shine off Joshua vs Povetkin, and they never had any intention of going threw with this fight. Hell you don't see Fury talk **** to Wilder on social media, he was still taking shots at Joshua after his highlight KO of Povetkin (youtube.) You don't hear about Finkel talking about this huge fight, he's still only saying what his terms for the Joshua negotiations are. Same with Warren. I just heard a spot with him on a British radio station along with Barry Hearn, and he was trying to get Barry to lock into something for Fury/Wilder rather than talking Fury vs Wilder. It's a great fight, whether Fury is in top form or not, so don't you think days away from October with a December 1st date that everyone should start promoting their own fight already.

    Good OP.

I think , cautiously , it will go ahead.

Although Fury might learn from his cousin and have an "ow my back" moment a few weeks before the fight.

    I think it'll happen and I don't think it's a foregone conclusion.
Sure, Fury's been out of action (and shape) for a hell of a long time but fair play he's got his mojo back. I think he's been holding a lot back in his 2 'comeback' fights in order to reel one of the big fish in.
Great if he's done the old rope-a-dope on the boxing fraternity and good luck to Wilder!!
Tough, tough fight for both guys but if he's 85% of what he was before his hiatus, then I'll go with Fury to win.

And on top of all this, Mayweather vs Pacquiao 2 is happening in December, stealing all the casuals from the majority of potential PPV buys. Location, date, conflicting events, the fighters relatively small fan bases, this fight is a very hard sell, I dont see it happening.

anyone know any info on possible purses yet seen as though people are bashing AJ for it? surely this fight doesnt have a purse over 2 or 3 mill for either fighter?

i see an injury from someone in the run up. LA is a pointless place to fight, may aswell do it in the UK

When it was first "announced" I said there was no chance of the fight happening. I've had to back-track a bit now that it's officially signed and sealed. But due to Fury's previous antics with the Klitschko rematch(es) and with how terrible he's looked in his last two fights, I'm still not 100% convinced that it'll happen. A Fury "injury" before the fight wouldn't surprise me at all. I'll only be 100% convinced it's happening when I see them walking to the ring.

If this fight happens in December I will eat my hat, my shoes and the kitchen sink.

Just don’t see it happening so soon after Fury’s two comeback fights and I with AJ already signed to fight AJ in April, it makes more sense for this one to be in Feb or March.

Just be ready to admit your wrong if it happens, I’m going on the record and saying this fight will happen. They have announced way too many things for them to pull out, if they do, that will be embarasssing.

Vitali and Sanders weren't from LA either and the Staples center was packed. I was lucky enough to see that one live. If it is promoted right with decent ticket prices, it could do well in LA.
