Incredible numbers for a 36 year old Kazakh.
Ggg nearly doubled Andre Wards career earnings in a single fight. Yet Ward is America’s last gold medalist. No wonder Ward hates ggg so

What? How? Did they split it all 50-50?
The PPV revenue was something like 50mil(after cable cut). Add the gate and other revenue streams and it is possible the both guys got close to 40.
If indeed they did split it fiddy fiddy.

First of all, age has little to do with anything. Most guys biggest paydays were in the twilight of their careers.
And Golovkin does have Alvarez to thank for those numbers. Ward never had anyone close to as popular near him.
Ward's gold medal is relevant because? (gold medal does not mean you are an instant superstar, or even destined to be one)

Ward never got close to selling out his hometown whereas GGG was selling 16k tickets vs Dominic Wade

Ward should have pushed for a Froch rematch in the UK. After Bute, Frochs mainstream appeal blew up over here and a rematch was mooted, Ward couldn't be bothered to come over for the Kessler rematch and push for it.

Instead he wasted about two years of his career whinging about a contract that he signed and lost two court cases to try and get out of it. He only ended up out of it because his promoter died.

Ward was a great boxer but ultimately he never reached the heights he felt he was deserving off due to himself.

True, Ward was not star. And Golovkin did do well when it came to the tickets.
But those 16k did not get Golovkin the supposed 40mil.

The best part of this is knowing that the money talk is post fight, not pre.

It's only $7m less than the slave wages that AJ shamefully accepted last year from that dastardly Hearn fellow
