Dont Create many threads but post quite a bit.

just wondered on your thought and/or rules on something i noticed in the AJ/Povetkin fight on Saturday.
After the 1st knockdown you see one of povetkins corner lean in and touch his wrist/glove whilst he is down and stumbles forward.
is this allowed? or should it have been picked up on. the trainer/corner man could have placed any substance on the glove at the time.

not that it mattered but its just something i picked up on and wondered?

*only productive answers and no hate/bait answers please

I think Ivan Kirpa (trainer) held his hand because he didn't want him to stand up, he wanted him to quit to avoid being dangerously hurt.

I never gave it a second thought at the time and it never crossed my mind that they may of been rubbing something on his glove and im usually quite scathing on dirty Russian tactics. I just thought they didnt want Povetkin getting back up because of how bad a state he seemed to be in.

What ever the reason maybe it is something that needs to be looked into, this incident has been and gone now but it shouldnt be allowed to happen.

Different but same same (overprotective trainer)

agree with fear of foreign substance but Sasha's training was moreso saying "stay down Sasha"

This. They way Povetkin went on his back made it was clear that he was done. His trainer was simply trying to save Povetkin, but Povetkin's pride forced him to stand and take more of a pounding.

    yeah just seems stranged.
hate to say it about povektin because of the russian thing lol but it probably was just being overprotective. he probably never experienced it like that with pov before so his natural reaction was to grab and say 'are you ok'

Lol, yeah those pesky Russians! Because no other country has dirty tactics! I bet you believe the Salisbury story!

Now apologise on the other thread where you comically got the purse situation wrong.

Yes, you are wrong. The money in the pot is shared between the two fighters, and then managers, promoters, coaches etc all take a percentage. Casual.

Can't even be a man and admit you were wrong.

That statement isn't true at all.

Every fighter will have a different deal in place.

In the context that we were discussing, yes it was.

When Barry says 70 million in the pot, that means if it was 50/50 that Wilder and AJ both get 35 million. Then the promoters and managers etc take their cut. That's how it works. Fact.

I don't expect you to know much since you still think there's no evidence to suggest AJ/Wilder does more PPV buys than AJ/Parker.

I thought it was fairly obvious that he was just trying to hold povetkin steady as he tried to make it to his feet?

Obviously not allowed but I guess instinct kicks in when you’re 1ft away from your fighter/friend trying desperately to get to his feet.

In the days of HD cameras and multiple camera angles it is virtually impossible to cheat like this.

Povetkin’s trainer was trying to stop him from getting up and ended up making him lose even more energy.
