The 6'2 Irish guy. There isn't a terrible amount of footage easily available on him. He hasn't really mingled at this kind of level before with any success, coming up short against Schiller Hyppolite though I've heard that was potentially a bad decision. Is Eubank going to potentially struggle with this guy, or is this a step down from from even the Quinlins and Yildrims of the world?
Eubank is gonna slaughter poor JJ. Eubank is criminally underrated. Ginger Groves is lucky to have scraped past young Chistropher of the manor of Brighton, who was fighting a weight division too high and had an off night. There's actually many people who say Eubank is British level! That shows you right there how someone's hatred of someone can alternate their perception. I'll never understand this.
Think i tead somewhere that he usually boxes in short fights, only been 10 rounds once? Jr will run him ragged but im rooting for the pikey.
Groves wasn’t lucky nor did Junior have an off-night, Groves was simply too savvy, too strong and too good for Junior, he hurt him several times, should have had a couple of 10-8 rounds. Eubank couldn’t even put him away when Groves only had one arm and actually got hit with the bigger shots. I agree though, he’s a 160 but it’s his choice to fight the bigger lads. He’s a good fighter, great chin and will give anyone a hellish night...no shame in losing to two lads who have superior boxing skills in comparison.
My comment was a bit tongue in cheek, but there's no way he should have had 10-8 rounds. People make out the fight was a complete shutout when many respectable scorecards had it 8-4. Same with the Eubank/Bully Joe fight, people go on as if Saunders schooled him, but it could have easily been a draw - first 6 bully, 2nd 6 Christopher. Young English is the real deal. He shouldn't be in match ups like this as it is imminent danger. Thankfully we have the Sheriff to protect and serve.
I wanted Jr to have a better fight than this one, but sounds like Degale is lined up in December. JJ and Jr have sparred quite a bit, they probably know each other quite well. If JJ comes out swinging it will be entertaining. I don't care to watch it but I will because I do want to see the main event
You are not mentioning Jr was dropped at least once in the fight and so escaped at least one count and a 10-8 round, there is an argument that he was dropped twice. So the scores should have been wider. It always make me smile when Jr fans talk about Groves, it gets closer and closer as the months go by and the question of the knockdowns is completely forgotten.
Good point, I forgot about them. If I remember correctly, one should have probably been called, but the other was questionable. Will need to see them back. That fight is a bit of a haze to me, maybe because I was stunned at what I was seeing. I was convinced young Christopher was gonna destroy Groves. So much so that sheriff English would have thrown in the towel to protect and serve.
I find it hard to believe that DeGale would accept the Eubank fight. Like AJ with Wilder, he turns into a quivering mess at the slight mention of young English's name. Would love to see it although Eubank wins easy.
It wasn’t a shut out in a Saunders v Lemieux kind of way, but Groves nullified him throughout. Junior only has a plan A which is very effective against boxers with slow feet or those who try to trade with him. Plan A got snuffed out by Groves. Junior showed heart and grit though, and kept going till the end. I felt that Groves should have had a couple of knockdowns hence the 10-8’s I was on about. I’m looking forward to Junior vs Degale, I think Junior smashes him. I really hope Degale is going in there to try and win and not just picking up one last big payday.
Looks like the kind of crude slugger that CEJ eats for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I would be shocked if JJ manages more than 4-5 rounds in with CEJ. CEJ only falls short every time when put in with elite level boxers with good movement DeGale gets eaten alive by CEJ too. He is too stationary and easy to hit these days, and doesn’t pack enough meat in his own punches.
I think this is what he was alluding too, most rip Jnr which isn't accurate, he is one hard kid..I hope I don't come across like i'm overrating when I say this, if caught early enough and with the right influence he could've truly been a serious serious force
